You are looking at one sweet 1971 240z that has lived it's life in Texas. I recently had the opportunity to purchase this car and give it some TLC.

I drove the car 725 miles to it's new home in FL. in one day with no problems.

The car is signed by no other than the father of the Z car Yutaka Katayama ( Mr. K. ).   He often signed pictures. books and other small items but rarely signed cars.

I have yet to see a 240Z signed by Mr. K.  You probably won't find another 240Z signed by Mr. K. on Ebay or anywhere else! I consider this car a piece of automotive history.

You can read about Mr. K. here    http://en. wikipedia. org/wiki/Yutaka_Katayama

The car went through a restoration in 1987 which took 1 year to complete. The owner decided to do his own valve job and ended up breaking a head bolt off in the process. Needless to say the car leaked oil for years until I had it fixed. I have a local shop that specializes in Datsun's and they tore down the motor. inspected everything and replaced anything that looked wrong. worn or questionable. After two weeks in the shop and 20 hrs of labor. the car came out perfect.  The whole engine is original to this car (numbers matching).

I have replaced all of the door seals. hatch seal and had the windshield removed and resealed with the correct molding and trim. The windshield was not correctly installed after the restoration in 1987.

The original AM radio is still in the car. it and the power antenna work great.  I saw an AM radio just like this on Ebay for $875. 00.

New springs. bushings and struts were put on during the restoration. The owner couldn't remember what brand they were (the springs are blue in color).

A header was installed at the time of restoration. also looks like SS braided brake lines were also added. The header does not leak.

Since the paint is nearly 25 years old. it is not perfect. there are a few chips in it where the spoiler hits the car when closing the hatch. The paint does shine very nice.

The bumpers were re-chromed and they are still in great cond. No rust behind them.

This 240z interrior is as close to original as I've seen. The only thing that I've added was an amp to the back wall of the pass. side seat. There are two 4 inch speakers in the kick panels and two 6X9's in a box that is specially formed to the back where the tail light cover is ( sounds great!). I run my Ipod on it and the whole system can come out without a trace.

The car has a few upgrades:

Aftermarket 5 slot aluminum wheels (no. I don't have the original hubcaps).

280Z 5 speed transmission. new bushings very smooth.

                                           280Z electronic ignition.

                                            Rear spoiler

                                            Front lip

                                           AC set up

                                           polished valve cover

                                           3 core radiator

                                            header with glass pack

                                           aftermarket springs and struts

                                           parking light upgrade

The car starts very easy and has no whines. groans or strange noises going down the road.

I've been shopping for those nickel and dime. no wait. $50 and $100 small items for the interior and feel that the interior is correct and VERY nice.

The dash was refurbished by Dashes Only in Ca. by the previous owner. He said that bill was $1400. 00. It's a very nice. quality job that still looks new. There is all new duct work behind the dash.

All gauges work. The clock works for about 15 minutes then quits.

I added the parking light upgrade. The fuse was blowing when I turned up the dash lights. Now it's perfect and the dash and parking lights are bright.

There is Dynamat on the backside of the interior panels. I put some carpet padding under the floor mats. It is nice and quiet in the cabin.

There was an A/C system on it that was intermittent. the compressor was the problem. I took the compressor and mount off ( at least 30 lbs. ) and the rest of the system is still there. These parts will come with the car if you choose to get the compressor fixed and use it. It is R134 ready. It is estimated that the compressor takes about 6-8 HP from the engine.

All glass is original.

The jack and wheel chocks are in the car and look brand new.

After a general clean up and having the engine freshened up. this baby is ready to go!
