Offered for sale. from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS. is this exceptionally original 3000 MK3. This vehicle was just purchased from the second owner who purchased this car in 1965 ! It has remained in his possession for the past 51 years and has always been well maintained as a running and driving car. acquiring a scarce 47. 74 miles from new.
This car retains 100% of it's original paint. save for a minor blend repair on the front of RH front fender. There are some areas that could use repair. The original lacquer paint is now showing some age in the form of some light checking with a few areas lifting. But the paint presents decently for being 52 years old and very original.
The body on this car is exceptional: rustfree. straight. damage-free. well-preserved with panel gaps per factory. The doors click shut and align nicely. Hood and trunk fit is excellent. The car's paintwork has been lightly cleaned to reveal it's potential if the next owner chooses to preserve the car's originality. which should be the path forward for this untouched and well-preserved car.
The 100% original interior could use some detailing. minor repairs to the front seats. a new carpet kit. and a new steering wheel for preservation's sake. The vinyl surfaces of the original seats are nice. but the cotton stitching has let go. A replacement top was fitted at some point early in the car's life. The car still retains it's original tonneau cover and bag. nbsp; top boot and bag. battery cover and tool bag. The interior panels look very good. along with it's top dash pad. rear seats. and other items that could simply be cleaned with protectant applied. The original chrome on the car appears mostly excellent. The original Triplex windshield has a crack. but another good used original will be supplied with the sale of the car. along with a pair of original air cleaners.  
The car's mechanicals are in very fine shape. This car's matching numbers engine runs extremely well with a crisp-shifting gearbox and working overdive unit. excellent oil pressure. no smoke or noises. and revs free and smooth that only an original feels like! All of the fluids are clean and up to the mark. At one point. a replacement exhaust was fitted. The car drives nice and tight. We've carefully cleaned the engine compartment and a simple. "in-situ" engine detailing would be a great improvement.
The original 60-spoke wheel set looks good. along with a set of smooth-rolling newer tires. The car's underside tells the story of a low mileage car accumulating and showing normal road use for 52 years. and looks commensurate to the car's age and years of careful use. Overall. this attractive and highly original Austin Healey 3000 presents a rare opportunity for the next owner to cosmetically preserve and lightly improve such a wonderful untouched example. This "nearly" one-owner car has an enviable known history from new. It would clearly attract a lot of attention and a be a nice addition to the preservation class at a future car show.
