Mini Moke MK2 (English) 1968 for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.05) based on 340 votes
For sale is my very tidy Mini Moke Mk11 1968 model. Cars mileage shows 27. 58. and can be backed up by old MOT's going back to 1981. Prior to this it resided in the Channel Isles where it was originally sold - the selling dealers plaque is still on the dash.  A heritage certificate shows the chassis and engine numbers match and the exact build date for 9th August 1968 and state it is a Morris Mini Moke (despite the latterly applied Austin Badge). These matching numbers and low mileage make this car quite a nice thing to have if you are a Moke enthusiast.  The Moke drives O. K. plenty of low down torque and starts off the button. Ongoing work carried out to ensure reliability. radiator and water pump just replaced. brakes. shocks usual stuff to keep the car going nicely. The gears all work and none jump out. the change though it has to be said is a little vague and takes some getting used to after driving a modern car. Brakes work O. K. well enough for the modest performance levels. They pull the car up straight. Steering is direct. if a little heavier than I expected.  It was resprayed recently back to its original spruce green. The car was changed in the past to white. I guess to reenact "The Prisoner"? Because the cars formative years were spent in the Channel Isles there is no rot whatsoever.  MOT till January 2017. Car is far from concourse. but it would take only some under-bonnet detailing to take it a little closer.  I am selling the car because it is simply not for me. I have wanted one from my school days back in the '60's. but I have to say that the driving position for me is impossible. wheel sticking in my stomach. and everything off centre just exacerbates an ongoing back problem. I have recently bought a new BMW and this will have to go into my only garage - keeping the Moke outside by the seaside is a definite no no!  The English Mk 11 is perhaps the nicest Moke to own and this is a good solid example of a rare and appreciating classic. It is priced to sell rather than the telephone numbers some people are expecting (and I suspect don't get!). The logbook shows different name  (Austin) and year of manufacture. but does have correct chassis number and all other info is correct - this will need correcting with DVLA - or leave it as it is and just do the colour change. I have left it as it is for now and is no biggie. The Heritage certificate is the important and accurate document. I have a large history file with work carried out. the re-registering process and official letters etc showing all (the protracted) efforts to get the correct age related number plate. which the car now has. It is currently taxed and insured and I do use it still in nice weather so the mileage may go up by 10 or 20 miles or so. it just won second place at our local village show in the classic car section. second only to a mint Lea Francis (you can see in the images)! If you wish to view the vehicle I can also take you for a drive in it. I will not allow test drives as the risk for me is just too high.  If you wish to view telephone 01654 710 571 and ask for James (me).
Terms of sale. please read this carefully and if you are unhappy or unsure please do not press the buy button - dreamers and time wasters will be reported to Ebay:
* Once you commit to buy you PayPal me £500. 00 deposit straight away. * After that you have 7 days to organise collection and the payment of the balance with cash or a cleared cheque.  * The price of £9. 950 is very. very reasonable and is firm for what is an appreciating classic. I am anxious to get my main car back into my garage. currently with the Moke interned in it. ASAP hence the reduction in price.  * My business is motorcycle parts. this is a private sale although listed on my business Ebay. * I am post in post code LL36 area on the Mid Wales coast so a long way from anywhere. please be mindful of this if you are considering buying my Moke. I am two hours from Shrewsbury  three hours from Manchester and Birmingham.  * I cannot deliver. this is collection only - if you have a large journey you might wish to consider using a trailer as there are no side screens. and really the comfortable maximum cruise is no more the 50MPH. It is not a car for the Motorway. * I have described my Moke in an accurate and honest way - I am not a dealer and do not have a dealers jargon. The car is solid and honest - as I hope I am. I would consider an Austin Healey Sprite Mk2 or Mk3 or Triumph Spitfire. Triumph Herald convertible. in part exchange. provided it is in excellent. zero rot. original spec. MOT'd condition. * Please note; I am not desperate for the money. however I do want the garage space liberating for my main car.
So there we have it - if you fancy a nice Moke. and you are "not a number but a free man" - good luck from "Number Two"!
