NO RESERVE 1966 Volvo 122S Amazon Two Door Coupe CA Black Plate Horizon Blue

Up for NO RESERVE auction! Very nice 1966 Volvo 122S Amazon 2-door sedan. A California car since sold new and still wearing both of it's original black license plates. Well cared for by it's previous elderly owner. since the late 1980's. Professionally repainted  in it's original and very attractive color of Horizon Blue. Excellent running original B18 1778cc five bearing engine with documented valve job completed only 1000 miles ago. Electronic ignition. Original SU twin carbs. Shifts excellent with original four speed transmission. Detailed service records from 1989 to present.

Having been a California car since new and well cared for over the last 34 years by it's most recent elderly female owner. the majority of the  body panels remain  straight with only a few minor dents/dings as photographed. Opening panel gaps are very good. Only  a few minor rust bubbles on the lower edge of the driver door. Looking at the undercarriage.  the floors and frame are original and straight with only one small spot of rust at the edge of the passenger front floor and one very tiny rust hole in the spare tire well. All the critical suspension points are solid with no rust.

All  trim parts are present and in fair to good condition. All chrome shines up nicely some pitting just starting to form at the top of the rear bumper. Front grille is in very nice original condition. All glass is clear. Front headlight and rear tail light lenses show no obvious cracks. Weatherstripping was replaced during the last repaint and remains in good condition.

Professionally repainted in 1991 with documentation and before photos. the original color remains and is the attractive Horizon Blue. Windows and trim were removed during the repaint. so there are no areas of overspray. The paint overall remains in  good condition with a few  blemishes. The most noticeable are some scrapes on the edges of passenger side wheel wells and very light scrape on right rear quarter.

The original Black vinyl interior remains in fair to good condition overall with the most noticeable wear being some small tears in the passenger seat bottom. Headliner was replaced during the last repaint and remains excellent. Original rubber floor mats are in still present and in good condition. The gauges. switches and knobs on the face of the dash are all present and functional.

Headlights (low and high beams). tail lights. brake lights. turn signals. horn. wipers and stereo are functional. Generator and dash gauges are functional. The odometer is functional and currently reads   23. 03 miles. A new starter was installed in 2009.  12 volt battery is installed and holds a charge. Electronic ignition was installed 1000 miles ago.

The original B18 1778cc five bearing engine is installed. The engine received a complete valve job only 1000 miles ago. Documentation states: Hardened valve seats were installed. Magnafluxed head. cut seats and valve grind to 45 degrees. Vaccume tested head. Remove and replace valve guides. Resurfaced head. Fuel pump was replaced 4400 miles ago. Radiator was recored 20K miles ago. Documentations shows regular oil changes and tuneups.

Engine starts easily. holds a steady idle and accelerates smoothly with excellent power. There is no smoking on startup or during hard acceleration. Original SU twin carburetors are installed (front carb no. AUC1346 w/ tag AUD 94F and rear carb no. AUC 3490 w/ tag AUD 94R).

The original 4 speed manual transmission was rebuilt 23K miles ago and shifts smoothly into every gear with no grinding or unusual noises.   The clutch slave cylinder was professionally rebuilt only 1000 miles ago.

Steers straight and suspension feels tight with no vibration. Flex joint on the steeering linkage and rear traction bar bushings were replaced 4400 miles ago. All four  shocks were replaced only 4000 miles ago.  Tie rod ends and ower ball joints replaced 30K miles ago. Wheel alignment is correct with no wheel vibration at high speed.

The original wheels are installed. The spare wheel is also the original.

Four Signet SB-802 radial tires (size 165SR-15) are installed  and are in good condition with good tread.

The brakes  are functioning well with records showing brake master cylinder replaced just 4400 miles ago. Pads and wheel cylinders were last replaced 10K miles ago. The emergency brake is correctly adjusted and holds tight.  

The following extra parts are included: Original spare wheel. extra mud flaps.

Documentation includes  original owners manual and service records from 1989 to 2013.

Payment: A non-refundable deposit of $1000 is due within 24 hours of the auction close. The remaining balance is due within 7 days from the close of auction. unless other arrangements were made. Accepted payment methods are bank wire transfers. cashier's checks and money orders. If you wish to obtain financing. please do so ahead of time. We reserve the right to end the auction early. We also reserve the right to verify any or all bids to ensure exceptional auction integrity. Please do not ask the reserve amount. as we will not disclose this information.

Shipping: Transportation expenses are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Vehicle must be picked up within 10 days from close of the auction. after which a storage fee of $15. 00 per day (or partial day) will be charged. We cannot be held liable for any problems or damages arising from or due to transportation handling. The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges and fees from point of sale to the final destination. In addition. it is the buyer's responsibility to arrange & coordinate shipping. We are happy to provide a list of transporters.
