1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Race car PCGB class 1 specification.
A very well known and respected 964 that has been built & maintained by us since 2009.
The donor car was purchased as a very tidy road car with a folder full of history and as such there is a V5c log book and it could with very little time and a few parts be put back on the road as a hardcore track day or "Sunday blast" car. Absolutely no big accidents. never seen a jig since being built and 100% known race history as it's never been away from us (thanks to a very loyal customer) since 2009.
Always maintained and presented to the highest standard to keep it a front running car. only ever been raced in The Porsche Club GB club championship.
I could write a "War & Peace" list of whats been modified. replaced. upgraded but here are the pertinent facts:-
Built to PCGB class 1 spec with all the right bits in all the right placesEngine 8 hours since very full rebuild including barrels and all wear parts. right on the class maximum allowed BHP/KwIntake/induction is the desirable later Black Plastic item (better torque curve) Maf rebuilt. injectors flow calced. custom Wayne Schofield mapping etcGearbox 1. 5 hours since refresh including selector rod. synchro's. 3rd gear/hub etcSuspension dampers (JRZ Rs Pro Eibach springs) 3 hrs since overhaul/recharge. Rest of the suspension has all off the permitted modifications with many RS parts etc. Only ever run with Millers CFS 10w-60 NT (engine). CRX Ls NT (gearbox) & Castrol SRF (brakes)Rare and desirable Dymag wheels (the strong mid weight ones that last longer that 40 hrs)
The car has had engine oil and filter every 4 hrs running. gear oil every 6 hrs and has always inspected immediately after & "spannered up" prior to any event or test. Any items that have shown any concern have always been attended to and the car has been very reliable with only 3 mechanical DNF's 1 engine (failed rocker). 1 gearbox (failed selector rod) and 1 Other (broken throttle pedal) in over 85 races and numerous testing session. I have never added it up (and probably would not wish to for our customers sanity) but I would think that there is around £65K invested in the build/upgrades (not accounting for the donor car) and at least £100K+ in maintenance between since 2009. The owner is still a valued customer and continues to race with us in a 996 Porsche. This car would still be a competitive class 1 car but is also now eligible to run as a class 2 car and would make a formidable mark in this class with a good driver. There has been a considerable amount of soul searching regarding whether to sell the 964 as it has been a "good friend" but currently the financial column is just outweighing the sentimental one so it is For sale.
I would expect any buyer to want to visit and inspect the car properly and I will gladly put my workshop at your disposal but please contact me to arrange this. We would be very happy to continue to run the car for the 2017 season and beyond or to discuss any works to return it to road legal specification. Having seen other arguably inferior or "murky" history/build cars come to market/auction in the last 18 months and sell for high prices we have taken a view to advertise the car for a sensible figure to ensure a sale. The car will be supplied with a second set of wheels and whatever spares we have (including some steel doors and bonnet etc). We will also carry out a thorough inspection and spanner up as a minimum prior to sale.
Thanks for looking. no P/x's (unless very interesting!). no offers of infinite foreign wealth though I'm happy to arrange delivery or export at a reasonable cost. Please contact me Ian Gorham at County Classics Racing 01892 730996. 01892 722067 or 07877 434829 (sensible hours please) to discuss the way forward with this cracking 964.
