SELLER REMARKS

For luxury and performance. it was hard to beat Buick's formula in the mid-60s. This 1966 Buick LeSabre convertible is an ideal example. offering a Wildcat 375 V8. room for five. and a host of luxury and comfort options that make it the ideal summertime cruiser.

There was no mistaking the big Buicks for anything else on the road in 1966. and it offers a refined demeanor that's mature and upscale. while at the same time there's an aggressive edge to the overall look. Refinished in a slightly darker variation on the original code F Mist Blue. it's a fantastic shade that lights up the entire car. There's an awful lot of sheetmetal to straighten and buff. but starting with great base materials always helps. and as a lifetime southern car. there was nothing noteworthy to be repaired. Still. they invested a ton of time blocking the bodywork. aligning the panels. and buffing the two-stage urethane paint to deliver that amazing shine you see today. All the trim was refinished as needed. including the stylized portholes on the front fenders and big chrome bumpers. which glitter like jewelry against the blue bodywork.

The interior offers lovely blue vinyl that's been restored to factory specs and looks amazing. With virtually zero wear since it was installed. the upholstery shows great detail. but isn't too flashy. which wasn't Buick's style. The two-tier dashboard offers only the basics. which is how Buick buyers seemed to prefer it. There are new carpets. beautifully restored door panels. and an under-dash A/C unit that is exactly how it would have been in 1966. The steering wheel appears to be original and shows its age. but it's just about the only component that hasn't seen the restorer's touch. Even the original AM radio remains in the dash. which should tell you something about the restorer's dedication to originality. A white power convertible top includes a glass rear window. and while it's a bit older than the rest of the car. it still folds effortlessly and seals up well with very few wrinkles. Finally. the trunk is truly massive. and you can easily see how solid this car is with immaculate floors and no signs of rust.

The '375' on the 'Wildcat 375' air cleaner decal indicates torque. and the rumbling 340 cubic inch V8 is a delightful travelling partner in the big LeSabre. I've always liked the Dante Red engines in the Buicks. as if the guys building them knew that people would be admiring the heart of the car as much as its sleek body. The top end is dominated by the stock air cleaner and massive A/C compressor. but the engine itself is completely stock. It starts easily with a nice bark from the newer dual exhaust system and runs smoothly as you'd expect. The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is a bulletproof upgrade over the older automatics used in previous years. and you can't help but be impressed by the super clean chassis. The only real deviation from stock are those stunning 18-inch American Racing wheels. which wear big 235/50/18 blackwall radials that totally fill the big wheelwells and transform the car's personality.

A little outside of the norm. this LeSabre offers luxury and performance the Buick way. Call now!
