Hi welcome to my auction of my 1971 LOTUS ELAN +2 DHC. I bought this car with the sole purpose of driving it on a classic car ralley to the Austrian mountains and the Dolomites. Which i did with no troubles. I bought the car of a guy who had not started the car for about 5-6 years. I got the car low loaded back to my home and with the help of a lotus trained mechanic we set about sorting all the gremlins out. Starting from front to back------out came the radiator and it got refurbished and a new temp sensor and electric fan were fitted. along with the water hose pipes as needed. Not knowing what the engine was like we took off the big valve head and we found that the valves along with the seating and the head were all good. So we reground in the valves. replaced the oil breather pipe and fitted new gaskets all around. The core plugs had signs of weeping so we replaced those as well. A new alternator and refurbished starter motor were fitted. The carbs were off so they were cleaned and re calibrated. The distributor got new points. rotor arm and condenser fitted. The cap and leads along with the coil all looked good. New engine oil and filter fitted. A clutch cylinder kit was fitted and there are no probs with the gearbox propshaft or rear axle. New brake disks along with brake shoes have been fitting all around. And some brake pipes have been renewed. New rear wheel bearings New drive donuts The alloy wheels needed refurb and repainted and new tyres were fitted. All this on a rust free SPIDER CHASSIS. New windscreen. The interior looks as though its original. and was grubby. But a mornings work has brought it back to respectability. The dashboard has what is termed a nice patina to it. I also have a new dashboard but never had the time to fit it.  All the dials work except for the clock and the ambient temp gauge. Even the fuel warning light works. Head lights work as they should. No vacuum leaks.  2 speed wipers work. Heater and fan works. Electric windows work. Good engine oil pressure Stable water temp. cigar lighter works. Outside----The chrome work is generally good. The paint work again is good but does have one or two paint chip marks. After all this car has been used. so its to be expected. The hood is good. it does have two small nicks in the front by the windscreen but it does not let in the rain. We encounter 3 days of heavy rain and neither my wife or i got wet. The hood cover along with the cockpit cover again are good. We averaged about 33-34mpg for the trip. The spares were bought from Paul Matty. The car is MOT till May 2014 and taxed till May 2014. so can be driven away after full payment in cash. Have old receipts and MOTs back to 1979 where the mileage was 35182 and now is 92000 miles. Bad points -------- 2 dials not working--------small amount of chip paint. --------slight drivers door droop. But doors close easily. THIS IS NOT A BODGE AND SPRAY PAINT OVER TYPE OF CAR. any questions please ask. Would appreciate a £250 deposit by paypal and the remainder IN CASH ON COLLECTION. I have got this car advertised in other classic car sites so reserve the right to with draw the car.

Is this car still for sale?

Seems unlikely but worth a try!
