It is with great reluctance that I have to accept reality and offer my Bentley for sale. it's been great fun but I am really not up to the upkeep that it deserves. unfortunately I have been unable to garage it and I hate the thought of it sitting outside over the winter.

It is one of around 125 Mark 6 coachbuilt by HJ Mulliner and not to be confused with the Standard Steel saloons.

Make no mistake this is no show queen and whilst mechanically and structurally sound you could easily spend £10k - £15k on cosmetics if so inclined. if you like the shabby look (some call it patina) then this could be for you.

The engine is very sweet with good oil pressure and holding temperature. The transmission and rear axle have no nasty noises. The brakes are working. but not at their best and are due a strip down and refurbishment. (I do have some service kit ready for this). The majority of the electrics work well with the exception of the interior lights and cigar lighters. The wind-up dashboard clock works.

The chassis. body frame and panels are sound. The only wood rot evident is a plywood panel inside the boot below the rear window. which has been leaking previously. There is slight play in the driver's door hinge. but the door pillar is sound.

That's the good stuff; the paintwork is wrecked as unfortunately the car spent some years under a tarpaulin. the sides aren't too bad. but the horizontal surfaces (roof. bonnet. boot. wing tops) have suffered most with the paint rubbed and flaking in places.

The interior whilst useable is very shabby; the front seats have leather missing on the seat cushions (hence the Womble Skin Seat Covers). the interior woodwork would not be a quick refurbishment as the dashboard and front door cappings have pieces of veneer cracked/missing. the headlining has been attacked by moths. there are no carpets. The radio is present and lights up. but no sound comes out. the sunroof does open. but leaks so it has had the ceremonial gaffer taping shut for the winter.

In my ownership I have had the fuel tank rebuilt and a new fuel sender fitted so now the fuel gauge works. I have also replaced the speedometer with a new old stock item (I have the original. but the mileometer had failed. which with a non-working fuel gauge led to fuel roulette). I have the factory build records and obtained two owner's handbooks (one reprint and one age appropriate original) also an official RR/Bentley Service Manual.

I will be happy to answer any questions regarding the car that I can.

I am not looking to replace it. as I am trying to downsize and already have another old vehicle as my daily driver. so I'm sorry I will not consider any swaps. The car will be advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to end the listing should it sell elsewhere.
