Triumph based convertible kit car for sale

Current customer rating: current rating for this car(2.25) based on 227 votes

Unexpectedly re-listed due to my dealings with David 'George' wall at Bargain Hunters Auction House (a dealership based in the South Yorkshire/Humberside area) failing to see through the promised purchase and with no communication since.
The car is still awaiting its first viewing!
Here for sale is a Triumph based McColl kit car originally built in the early 1990's.
This car is unique in design and loosely based around a 1954 Frazer Nash Le Mans. It was built using a space frame chassis with GT6 running gear from a 1968 donor car with roto-flex suspension. The alloy body is screwed & pop riveted to a tubular framework. with metal mudguards. The only fibreglass is some filler which was used around the nose cone to provide curvature. The car as far as we know is a one-off design and was constructed by an engineer in North Yorkshire. Once the car was registered & MOT'd it was almost immediately driven 1500 miles to the Denia region on the east coast of Spain. However. instead of being imported the McColl was dry stored until my Father bought the car in 2002 becoming the second owner. Basic work was carried out at this time to get the car running including the rebuilding of both carburettors. The McColl drove well. but was again put back into dry storage with the occasional run down to the local shops. Finally. last year the McColl was shipped back to the UK to be sold. and after some remedial work (including a new tonneau cover) is now awaiting a new owner.
The McColl starts up & drives and was recently driven to an MOT station several miles away to see what would be needed for an MOT. The chassis & body are rust free and although most of the running gear is now over 25yrs old. all mechanical parts were new or reconditioned when built with just 1600 miles since. The McColl was never put through an MOT test but the Inspector advised us that the cockpit flooring & seats would need to secured and that the seat belts & tyres would need replacing. The McColl was driven back to its garage and has not moved since. even though the journey there & back stopped traffic with the amount of attention it generated!
The best thing about this kit car is the size of the wheels which unlike most other kit cars are in scale to the cars design. The wire wheels are believed to be off a Jaguar and there is a spare that mounts to the side of the car. The McColl originally had leather straps to secure the bonnet & spare wheel and these are included but will need replacement due to their condition. The exhaust is a temporary replacement as the McColl came with a cherry bomb which although making the six cylinder engine purr was just a little too loud.
Reluctant sale as there are another six Triumphs in the family. If the reserve price is not reached the McColl will be withdrawn.
V5 registration is in my name and lists the car as a McColl 2-axle-rigid body sports.  A copy of the first & only MOT certificate is included which states the original build colour was British Racing Green with red wire wheels. We also have the VIN plate number of the original 1968 GT6 donor car.

Car is based in central Norwich and since my last listing has been started up and driven the 3 miles to my house. The car can be test driven on my drive although no battery is included.

Please remember you are bidding to buy and not to come and view.
