1977 Vauxhall Magnum 1800 2 Door

Up for auction is my 1800 Magnum. Registered new on the 1st August 1977 and bought by a Mr GA Hirst from Leeds. The car was sold on the 13th August 1979 to a Mr G Reeve who traded his 73 Morris Marina with Polar Ford in Bradford. Mr Reeve from Bradford owned the car till it was recommissioned last December by Old Road Service and MOT Centre who found the car in Mr Reeves garage where it had been dry stored since 1987.

I have contacted the garage to see if they know why the car was laid up but they say the owner had developed dimentia so it remains a mystery.

The car is an 1800 but badged as a 2300. must have been a case of badge envy back in the day.

I have all the MOT certificates from new validating the mileage- 

4th August 1980 - 10311 miles

15th September 1981 - 12071 miles

16th September 1983 - 14664 miles

19th September 1985 - 16549 miles

17th September 1986 - 17525 miles

Amazingly to add to this impressive line up of certificates all have been carried out by the same garage in Bradford. Also has the original service book with driver manual. Blue registration certificate and 1979 bill of sale with trade in. Original Magnum sales brochure. 2 sets of keys.

To the car. the interior really is time warp. Seat material is tight with no wear to the velour. The head lining is as new. The 6 dial dash in fabulous with an undamaged top. Door cards are very good but have been fitted with period speakers. The original Blaupunkt MW is still in place and working. The previous owner also fitted a radio cassette player under the RH of the dash with retro fitted speakers behind the front seats in custom made housings.

Engine bay is very clean with inner wings still factory fresh. there is evidence this has been protected in the past as there is waxoil in the crevices. Pictures show an electric fuel pump but I have fitted a new original manual pump. Boot area is amazing housing an original Rostyle spare wheel. just study the pictures.

The underside is rock solid but could do with stripping back and re painting as the underbody paint that has done its job over the years has started to dry out. Exhaust will need to be replaced as this blows.

The body is very good with only a few patches where there is a little bubbling. nbsp;namely lower down on the valance seams and the front of the rear arches. low down. I am being picky. the car is rock solid. just trying to give you the whole picture. Please ask and I can send you a link for details images on photo bucket.  There is also a small dent on the NS front wing by the door. hardly noticeable. Apart from that the panels are straight and true. gaps are very good and the doors shut with an amazing reassuring clunk as from the factory.

All chrome trim and bumpers are in good condition with a little pitting adding to the cars patina.

The paint has a nice shine and the car does look the part but there are areas with imperfections. These are mainly on the bonnet and boot where surface rust has come through the paint. It is only dry surface rust from standing and not rot!!!!!!

All in all this is a unique opportunity to own a classic 1970's Magnum with amazing history and low mileage. Can only go up in value as Fords of this era become unreachable due to stratospheric prices.
