1971 VW T2 ‘Early Bay' Dormobile Camper Van

For sale is my 1971 VW T2 ‘Early Bay' Dormobile Camper Van which I have owned since 2005.   During ownership we have thoroughly enjoyed many trips away at various VW events. festivals and coastal breaks.   The vehicle has been dry stored inside each winter and has proved to be very reliable having not let me down once over the 11 years of ownership.  

As mentioned the van is a Dormobile variant and internally is presented with original factory standard Dormobile interior which includes cabinets. wardrobe. sink. cooker. fridge. cool box. bed and table.    All items are in great condition and have not been modified.    The cooker and fridge were working when last tested in 2010. however I personally do not use them and choose to use an electric fridge and external gas cooker whilst out and about.  

Up front the front seats are finished in white and yellow vinyl and are clean and tidy all be it 1 small hole where I caught the material with a key…. It has an unmodified standard dashboard complete with clock and working back lights (note; clock works but is currently disconnected to prevent battery discharge during winter).    A CD Radio is provided however the buyer should note that there is an issue with the unit which prevents it being powered off correctly.

The bed / rear bench seat is finished in blue jean fabric. and is in a fully working condition.   Also included in the sale is a front cab hammock which fits suspended over the front seats.    This proved to be a great addition when our children were younger.   I do not know the maximum working weight limit of the bed however my daughter who is 7 easily sleeps on this bed.    Up top in the pop top roof are 2 further additional beds. Personally I have never used them and the buyer should note that whilst the bed mechanism is in full working order with all external material covers present the bed hammock fabric itself is showing signs of age and would need to be replaced before the beds are used.   Also note in this area that the pop top roof spring has failed and as such the roof when open is supported via a support pole.   The rear floor is finished with black / white square vinyl and up front both rubber and carpet floor coverings are provided.    There is a 12V fluorescent fitting to provide some light internally and yellow curtains finish the interior providing a degree of privacy
