UPDATE:  On 9/17/16 this car took first place in the 1965 to 1978 Mustang category for the 2016 Route 66 Cruisers Annual Car Show.
As I near my 70th birthday. I've decided (with my wife's ever-so-thoughtful advice) to clear my stable of my Mustang collection.   This 65 is my last vintage classic.   I'll still have my 2007 Shelby GT500 with 3300 original miles (purchased from the New York gentleman who currently owns the "oldest known Mustang on the road" -- the 1963 Mustang III concept car - VIN:  5S08F100009.   There were only 15 of these prototype cars made and the 14 others were destroyed.   I've included a picture for you Mustang enthusiasts (look the story up on the internet as it's fascinating how this car survived).   Back to the topic at hand --my 65.
All indications are I'm only the third owner of this 65 Mustang with a production date of October 26. 1964.   The car has one of the original dealer installed dash plates that were presented to some car purchasers as an "reward" for having to wait so long for their newly ordered car.   It has 88863 miles on the original 289 V8 with an original Autolite 2 barrel carb (carb was rebuilt  10/25/13).   The mileage may differ slightly at the time of sale as I'm still doing some car shows/cruise-ins.   The C4 automatic was completely rebuilt at 88210 miles.   I'm almost certain every inch of this car has been gone over the last several years and I know it has been a labor of love for me.   Last year I had a brand new National Parts Depot OEM dual exhaust installed and the car has had the power steering pump and alternator replaced at 88388 miles.   The battery is OEM Autolite look-alike sealed unit from CJ Pony Parts.   All five tires were installed last year and are the BF Goodrich dual redlines from Coker Tire.   All five rims were also installed last year and are the Scott Drake 14" style steel wheels (CJ Pony Parts).   All exterior chrome/stainless is either new or polished and the vast majority of the interior trim has been upgraded with Scott Drake accessories to include the rally pac. steering wheel. steering wheel horn ring. door handles. seat trim. sill moldings. dash bezel. dash knobs. etc.   Even the cabin factory air conditioner bezel was rechromed by Classic Auto Air (a $400 job).   All electrical/mechanical systems are working properly.   The Pony seats are brand new TMI seats/seat foam/door panels from CJ Pony Parts.   The exterior paint is a 10 out of 10 and the black vinyl top is perfect.   Absolutely NO visible rust on this classic as it is garaged & covered 100% of the time.   The only time the car is driven is for perfect weather car shows and/or cruise-ins (go Route 66 Cruisers!)  I was only able to do three car shows this year. but this jewel placed first in it's class.   There is no way to list all that has been done to this car so I'll try to update this listing as I think of new things.   For now. all I can say is that this is one of the finest original 65 Mustangs out there and it is a real head turner and show stopper.   It needs absolutely nothing and is ready to be taken to your car show on day one.
If I have left something out that you'd like to know or if there are any questions at all. please call or text me at 217. 414. 1470 and I'll get back to you promptly.   No surprises here.
