Thank you for viewing my Alvis TA14. The TA14 was one of the first cars put into production after the second world war. as with most car manufacturers of the time they had to make do with a refreshed pre war design. The TA14 was no exception. The car the TA14 was based on was the pre war 12/70 which held the lap speed record at 110mph for the last ever race held at Brooklands. As such this must be a great endorsement for the capabilities of its derivative the TA14.
So to my car. well I'd describe this car as a 3ft car.  i. e it looks lovely from 3 feet away but on closer inspection the cars paint is showing its age in one or two places but overall the car still presents well. The chrome work is a mixture of new and original. The hubcaps and bumpers look like new as does the drivers door handle. The large radiator grill and surround are in good condition. both headlamps are slightly tarnished. though the headlamp rims are excellent. The passenger door handles and boot handles are aged. All the tyres have lots of life left in them and the exhaust is stainless steel. The interior is again a mixture of new and original. but overall it is very nice place to be. The front seat squabs have both been rebuilt and re trimmed to a high standard. the rear seat is original and has a nice patina. The west of England head lining has been replaced to an excellent standard. all the door cards are original and are in decent condition. The carpets have been replaced with a quality set and the ply wood floors appear to have been replaced also. Both the steel sliding sunroof and opening front windscreen operate correctly. All the instruments appear to be working as they should. the heater works and she is fitted with flashing indicators for safety. She is on the button and drives very well holding good oil pressure circa 45psi and correct engine temperatures . The engine has had a recent de-coke. so runs very sweetly. I took her on a 10 mile drive were she sat at 50mph quite happily. Structurally she appears very sound and solid with only piece of timber near the drivers door that I can see that will need replacing at some point. So to re-cap this is a classic car you can use and enjoy. it is not a trailer queen. So if you prefer to use your classic car and have fun rather than sit in field collecting rosettes and worrying if it's going to rain on your better than new classic !   This car is for you.  You can tinker and improve as you enjoy and use. should you so wish. She comes with a current V5. drivers handbook and original parts book. plus a valuation from Red Triangle of £12. 00 dated January 2010. There is also a journal of recent expenditure which notes the following. Exhaust replaced 2012Head gasket & decoke 2014New windscreen rubber 2014Front bumper & hubcaps re-chromed 2015Replacement fuel pump 2015New water pump 2015Road wheels painted 2015
