Up for sale is my V8. Sadly. as much as I love this. I have recently bought a 3500S which has become my every day vehicle. and as much as I'd dearly love to have a P6 reserved for 'best'. I've got to be sensible! (Apparently. )

The car has only covered 37000 miles from new. most of which were done within the first few years. and there are MOTs back to 1978 which can verify this. However. the car has always been used. and looking at the old tests there doesn't appear to be any time in its life that it has been laid up and unused; a killer for most old cars. The car is a very nicely spec'd model. with power steering and etched Sundym Glass all round. Whilst there have been small areas of welding in the past. my MOT tester (usually a rather uncharitable chap when it comes to classics!) commented on how incredibly solid it was underneath. which. coming from him was really quite the compliment! The boot floor is rock solid. as is the underside. Under the seats isn't the usual rot party that you come to expect from a P6. and the area around the De-Dion leading arm bolts have been re-welded nicely. unlike so many still on the road.

The interior is quite stunning. and the closest thing to a time-warp that I've ever experienced. The box pleat seats are in perfect condition - a P6 aficionado friend of mine got quite excited at how the box pleat itself isn't crushed! The seats are wonderfully comfortable. and perfect for long distance motorway cruising. Even without the MOTs. the interior alone could back up the remarkably low mileage that the car's done. The original Motorola radio works well too - a nice period feature.

In June of this year I spent £450 having the fuel lines replaced and the tank and carbs properly cleaned out. along with its MOT. The car drives wonderfully; as smooth and powerful as an auto V8 should. and I would have no hesitation in jumping in it and driving any distance. The ride is smooth. and the engine noise within the cabin is unbelievably quiet. Just make sure you wind the windows down when going through a tunnel to hear the glorious V8 soundtrack.

The exterior of the car isn't in bad shape. although to bring it up to the standard that it deserves. it really could do with a respray. as sections of it appear to have been blown in without a tremendous amount of professional skill. Whilst it looks fine from a few feet. the car really deserves better than it looks currently. There are a couple of small 'garage' dents around the car. that I have been assured will pull out. but I will very happily include all the spare panels required to make it good again. (I'm also aware of the burdensome nature of spare parts that seem to come with most P6s. so feel free to leave the panels if you'd wish!). As you may well be aware. the panels on these bolt off easily. meaning that a full respray or replacing panels is a relatively easy job. Alternatively. of course. you could quite happily drive it exactly as it is. It gets admiring looks wherever it goes. and I have really enjoyed owning this as a classic that you don't feel afraid to actually use. The rear bumper could do with re-chroming. or simply replacing. Whilst I unfortunately do not have a replacement. they do come up frequently on eBay. as well as through the (incredibly friendly. and very helpful) Owner's Club.

Please do get in touch for more photos and any other questions you may have. Whilst I feel I have described the car as honestly as possible. there is absolutely no substitute for coming and viewing it yourself. where you are free to have as much of a poke about as you would like. I will happily take you for a test drive. and you're most welcome to have a go yourself. if you are able to bring proof of fully comp insurance. Payment is by cash on collection. or bank transfer. The car is of course sold as seen. and no warranty is implied or given.
