1972 Chevelle SS with 89. 00 original miles on the vehicle. Car started life as an L-48 with a 350 4 barrel 4 speed and now has a solid lifter 454 big block. Vin number is 1d37j2b610198

Car had a frame on restoration 3 years ago with the intention of keeping the vehicle as original as possible.

The body work was completed by Tony Dewaal (2-Tone Auto Body) out of Mattawan MI. . and was stripped to bare metal and brought back to the original code correct color of Mulsanne Blue (code 26) with white SS stripes (blocked/sanded and primed three times). All new chrome was used from from Ground-up Restoration and includes bumpers. chrome trim all around. weather striping. window moldings. wheel moldings. etc.

The interior components (front and back seat covers. headliner. carpet. etc. ) were purchased from Eckler's and installed by J. A. Talsma Auto Upholstery in Plainwell MI. Front bucket and rear bench seats are original components/frames. The drivers side floor pan was replaced due to rust and the trunk floor is in good shape.

The 454 engine is not original to vehicle and was purchased in 1988. It is coded as a T10045TRW (Manufactured on 10-01-1974 at Tonawanda. New York factory) as an original 245hp LS-4 truck block. Upper end of the engine has matching (correctly coded and dated) heads and intake that where standard options on the 1967-69 427 Copo 425 hp engines. 427 L-71 435hp Corvette engines. and the 396 L-78 375hp engines. Heads and intake are coded 3919840 and 3933163. respectively. This intake was also used on many GM crate engines for the LS6 and LS7 and is also the same intake as the 3933198 used on the L-88/ZL-1 engines. with the only difference being an open carb divider on the L-88/ZL-1 versions. The is a solid lifter engine and while I do not have documentation on the cam. pistons. or crank the compression is significant and I am told. by the individual I purchased the vehicle from. that he recalls the pistons being 12. 5:1 compression and the cam lift being in excess of . 600. I have the valve lash set at . 027(cold) so he isn't far off. The engine is topped off with a Holley 750 CFM 4160- 310-3 (not a double pumper) and has been rebuild.

Distributor is a Mallory Unilite 3748201 electronic ignition.

The car has a Muncie M-20 4 speed(code P0621) and had all the seals and gaskets replaced by Roberts Corvettes in Kalamazoo MI and filled with API/GL-4 oil(Muncie guys understand this). The transmission is tied to the rear-end with a standard duty drive shaft( 1310 ujoints. 55. 5 inch) from Ground-up Restoration. The 4 speed linkage was all replaced with Ground-Up Restoration parts as well. Clutch kit (11 inch pressure plate. flywheel. clutch plate) where all replaced with OEM parts from Ground-Up Restoration. however. I have since upgraded the kit to a Center-force dual friction clutch kit (still have the OEM clutch kit).

The following are original parts that were retained: 12 bolt rear-end. f40 suspension. SS rims & rings. front grill with SS emblem. SS front light bezzles. SS Hood. SS steering wheel. dash & dash pad. 4 speed center counsel. original seats (frames). Interior door panels. Fisher door plates. drivers side sport mirror and. kick plates and seat belts. Vehicle also has original power front disc brakes and rear drums. however. with newer parts.

Non original parts to the vehicle: Engine. transmission. trunk lid. driver side door. drivers side corner panel and passenger side fender(OEM Part).

Restoration was well documented and available for review.
