Sale price: £33,000.00 make an offer

Seller's notes: This is a unique and historic car for a very special person. It is totally original and complete and in very sound condition. The engine starts off the button and runs very nicely. Al four doors still shut like railway carriage doors. Only very slight corrosion at the bottom of the drivers door pillar which is easily rectified. The non original green paint (should be blue) now needs renewal as does the internal trim. The chassis is in very clean condition and without any corrosion.

The Experimental Rolls Royce long wheelbase Silver Wraith Chassis number 41 EX with touring saloon coachwork by Park Ward (design number 550)

This is a very special and unique car for a very special person.   It was very unusual for Rolls Royce to sell their experimental cars.   This car got through the net having been owned by the Company from new until it was sold to a senior Rolls Royce manager in 1979.   He kept the car until 2009 so that incredibly it was always effectively in Rolls Royce care from 1955 until 2009.

The car has a vast amount of  history from new including a copy of the 100 page daily log book of the experimental work ( the original is kept at The Hunt House and is too precious to be allowed out)  During the three year experimental period the car was up rated to full 1958 E series specification.   It is the first Rolls Royce car to be fitted with power steering and with air conditioning.

Following it's period with the experimental department the car became the personal transport for the manager of the Rolls Royce service depot at Hythe Road. London and was then transferred to the school of instruction and later to Willesden Technical College.   At the College to help with training the students the car was repainted in green and silver in place of the original blue and silver and the interior was skilfully re trimmed but unfortunately in the incorrect materials.

In 2009 the car was bought by a good friend of mine from whom I bought it in late 2014.

All the above is backed up with fully documented history including correspondence between me and Derek Coulson ( now aged nearly 90 but still with an excellent memory) who was a member of the experimental team at Rolls Royce and who worked on various experimental procedures involving 41EX.

In early 2015 I brought the car to Cyprus where I now live.   It has never been registered for use on the road in Cyprus and it still has its original British number UMA 310  together with DVLA documents so return to UK is no problem.

I intended to carry out a full re paint and re trim in original colours and to top standards.   The body was stripped down ready for painting and trimming.   The interior woodwork has been very beautifully refinished and is ready to be re fitted.   Unfortunately for various health reasons the planned work has not yet been able to proceed.

The body is very sound with only one small corrosion patch at the bottom of the drivers door pillar.   This can very easily be sorted prior to painting.   All four doors fit perfectly and shut like railway carriage doors.

Underneath the chassis is in very nice condition with the number 41 EX still clearly visible painted on the side of the of the frame when the car was new.

The car is still absolutely complete mechanically and the engine starts easily and runs very nicely. Due to not being licensed the car has only been driven a short distance off the road in order to check the transmission. steering . tc.

Normal re commissioning will be needed but no major work is thought to be required.

If required following sale painting and trimming to Rolls Royce standards can be organised in Cyprus at less than half of UK charges.

This car is unique and historic and not to be confused with other Silver Wraith cars.
