1951 Bristol 401. restored over a 5 year period and is simply beautiful. The engine was completely and thoroughly overhauled last year at great expense - see details below. The car has been restored to the manner in which it deserves - ie correctly! Everything has been done to make sure it'll last many many years without issue. everything replaced as necessary during the build. Seats recovered. new headling etc. tc. You can see from the pictures how nicely it is and sits correctly. all chrome re-done etc. viewing through the week or weekends not a problem. There can't be many 401's out there in such a nice order as this one. its lovely and sounds superb as it glides past. Engine work:- acid dipped block/crank/head - removes all old paint. rust and oil residue re-bored with new Bristol pistons new bristol cam + followers new rockers shafts head had new seats. new valves. new guides. seals etc crank ground new bearings new cam bearings uprated oil pump - stock one has very small internals - recognised upgrade new timing gear kit new genuine head gasket carbs ultrasoniclly cleaned and refurbished by bristol specialist all new oil seals/gaskets etc. tc dyno'd to run in and set up carbs and installed in car. theengine is church mouse quiet and smooth - exactly as it should be! NOTE:- I am selling this car on behalf of an elderly friend whom is sadly too old (well into the late 80's) to use manual clutches and is therefore reducing his collection and running auto box cars only - truly genuine sale. you'll see this when you visit and meet the owner. Hi Stan, odd question perhaps but would you happen to know which firm / specialist undertook all the engine work on this car? I have a project 401 with a dismantled engine that requires a complete rebuild, and I'm keen to deal with a firm that knows what they're doing.
