With its V8 power. perfect color combination. and pristine condition. it's hard to beat this 1963 Ford Falcon Futura convertible for vintage top-down fun on a budget.


The Ford Falcon is the car that fathered the Mustang. and now that it has matured into vintage status. you can really see the grown-up appeal on this convertible. This is especially true when the economy car roots are erased on the top of the line Furura trim. There's plenty of brightwork. including beautiful chrome bumpers. intricate grille. wire wheels. rocket-inspired taillights. and the Futura side trim that seems to keep this convertible pointing forward. All of this shows exceptionally well on a recent application of Ford's shade of Raven Black. Besides looking amazing. the great part about black is that the imperfections can't hide from it. So yes. this body is just as straight as it appears in the pictures.


Bright red upholstery looks spectacular with the shiny black body. This is complete right down to the red convertible boot cover. The overall effect is a classic contrast that gives this Falcon an upscale look that always attracts attention. Open the door. and you'll see that nothing looks out of place in this mostly brand-new interior. Everything from the bucket seats to the heat/defrost controls looks factory fresh from 1963. The intricate door panels recall just a touch of the 1950s with their shiny materials and lots of polished trim. The familiar instrument panel is in excellent condition. There are even some nice luxury touches such as the AM/FM radio and the power folding feature for the new vinyl top.


The engine is the same 260 cubic-inch V8 that found a home in the early Mustangs. Combine this motor's smooth and torquey nature with the column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. and this Falcon can easily get you going in a hurry. This powerplant is presented nicely in the engine bay with well-maintained belts. hoses. and wiring. Plus. the chrome valve coves and air cleaner provide a dash of show-worthy shine. This is all finished off with a chrome-tipped dual exhaust that gives this V8 cruiser the burble it deserves.
