Spectacular 1973 Opel GT 49,000 original miles bare metal respray

My name is Eric Hoffman and my phone number is 404-974-5540.   This auction is for a car. a spare set of seats. a spare set of wheels. heater repair parts. and original Solex carb and its air cleaner housing.   Buyer pay the shipping for the spare seats and wheels.   Strato Blue is the original color.   It's very difficult to get a really great paint job for under $10. 00; it even more difficult to have one that will be holding up perfectly with no covered up flaws coming back several years later. I bought this car in 2006. The guy I bought this car from found it while was on a business trip from Chicago to California in 2003. It was represented to him as being a one owner 35. 00 original mile example. although I have no documentation other than a very low mileage 1978 California registration receipt that I cannot find after getting it I had no reason to doubt this based on the condition of the original dash (one single thin crack) and the underside of the original floor pans which were and are rust free. It was in long term storage at the time of purchase. After purchasing. the previous owner had it shipped to Chicago and treated it to a bare metal respray at Chicago Paint Werks for $6000. They also added undercoating to the wheel wheels not because of issues but per Opel GT Source recommendation for all driven GT's. The purchaser owned a Dollar General Store whose business was slowing.   At the same time the paint was being completed he put the nearly finished project on ebay which is how I bought it.   I spoke to the seller every day of the auction as well as Gil from Opel GT Source (who had been in the process of suppling parts to the previous owner for the restoration). I am a lifelong car (specifically vintage European) enthusiast. When I bought it there was no reciept for the paint but I called Paint Werks who were kind enough to verify that they not only remembered the car and the customer but also that it required no rust repair. Right after I got the car Harold Beech of Rockdale Imports (well known in Opel circles he worked on them in the 70's at a Buick dealership) replaced the headlight wiring. installed a heavy duty ignition switch relay. nbsp;and installed a Weber carb conversion.   Behind each wheel there is a clear rock guard paint in a professionally fabricated design identical from side to side. it's called Armor Coat. it must be applied and sanded in 7 coats by a body shop professional.   I found out about Armour Coat on Ferrai Chat. it yeilds a far better result than 3M adhesive clear paint guard but is also obviously more expensive.   When I take the car to car shows automobile paint and body shop professionals consistently rave that this is a spectacular paint job and especailly that the correct amount of metalflake was expertly sprayed by a seasoned professional.    The previous owner included $1700 in parts receipts from Opel GT Source. My own receipts included are over $5000 and do not include most of the following which are obviously new: Sumitomo HTR 200 tires with 300 miles for newly refinished original wheels. wheel center caps from Reprotech in Germany (who will not ship to the USA). NOS outside door mirror (not reproduction). nbsp;radiator. Konig Rewind wheels. rechrome all bumpers. bumperettes. gas cap and drivers door handle. ceramic (Jet Hot) silver coat muffler. powdercoat the following: black ashtray base. grill screens. the 2 cowl covers one air inlet mesh the other is the wiper wiper arm cover. silver powdercoat wheel hubs and portion of new rotors that brake pads do not contact. much perfectly matched stainless fasteners. nbsp;stainless lug nuts for original wheels. nbsp;tuner-style lug nuts for aftermarket wheels that prevent wheel removal from becoming wheel scratching. Konig rewind wheels: I do not care for the manufacturer advertisement on the centercaps of all aftermarket wheels so I had perfect round thin steel disks laser cut by a friend that works at (one of the) Snap-On tool factory plants and then had them chrome plated.   The spare seats: I purchased year model 2000 Mazda Miata seats. turned them upside down and in order to make them fit cut off the lower downward partruding part of the bottom steel pans with a sawzall. and then custom fitted hardware store steel bars to mate them with original Opel GT seat rails. They slide all the way back and forth without binding.   I also had Addco front and rear sway bars installed.   Every year I take this car to the Georgia Triumph Club Chris Gore Mountain Tour where it always gets rave reviews. Negatives: Paint Werks decided to paint the engine bay black; the car has not been color changed. It's quite quite easy to see that Strato Blue is the original color not only by the VIN tag but also because the original paint on the rails under the seats matches the body paint. Heater not working. included in the sale is an Opel GT Source repair kit consisting of brushed stainless heater face plate. cables and new heater valve.   Radio not connected to speaker but powers up. clock works for short time after time adjustment.   Very few chips and scratches that are professionally filled in or touched up and will not show up in photos.
