I have recently imported this series 1 Datsun 240z. It was one of the last of the series 1 cars being made in January. The series 1 is the most desirable and valuable of the 240's. This is a very exceptional car in that it is totally original and has not been touched since new. No repairs. No welding. No paintwork. Never undersealed. The series 1 cars had no underseal from new so were more liable to rotting than the later cars. This one has held up extremely well. It has also not suffered from the usual dented floors and chassis rails like so many others. The interior is also in very good condition with the centre consul undamaged and all the vinyl/plastic in as new condition. The door cards are also in good shape. The passenger seat in in perfect condition but the drivers seat has a few splits. Both seats have no other signs of wear and are comfortable and haven't started to sag. The dash top has a few cracks in it as all hot climate cars do. The car didn't have a heater control panel when I got it but a good condition one will be provided with the car. The only parts missing from the car are a heater fan switch and the tailgate vent covers as seen in the pictures. The outside of the car is very tatty and covered in small dents and scratches but all panels match and give the car a survivor look that I would leave as is. I have avoided doing anything cosmetically to the car or touching the underside as your plans for the car will dictate the route you take. You could just waxoil the underside and cavities and enjoy it just the way it is. Or carry out an easy restoration of the whole shell which would require minimal to get it ready for paint. This car has the potential to be one of if not the best 240z in the country as you are starting with such a good base. The car has some surface rust on it and the paint has worn thin in places and it probably looks nicer in the 3 main pictures than it actually is. As I said. it's a tatty car.
I would love to keep this car but another purchase today has forced me to advertise this one and sell it quickly. Series 1 cars do not come up for sale very often and I have never seen one in this good unrestored condition so I don't really know what its worth. I have priced it at less than people tell me its worth and included an offers option as it must sell this week.
All nova duty paid and car is ready to register. I can complete the registration for you but it will take a couple of weeks for the plates to come through. A large deposit can secure the car if you want to wait and let me deal with this. Its up to you. The car drives and everything works. I have loads of pictures and can send the link if you ask.
Thanks for reading this. John
