BessieEven lower reserve she has to go very sweet van a joy to own and drive
Bessie is an Austin 7 Van registered in 1929. Bessie comes with history. She was built 26th February 1929. bought and exported on the 4th March 1929 by Rosengart. sadly Rosengart never built the body on her and she left the factory with a running rolling chassis. with a fabric saloon dash board. bulk head and petrol tank. As far as we can work out. she stayed at the Rosengart factory for a couple of years and then sold to an automotive coach builder in Northern Spain. We were told that she was used in the Spanish civil war but we have no proof of this only that there is a plaque on the dash. Obviously if she was used in the war she was on the winning side. She was laid up for many years and bought by a Spanish farmer in Lugo Northern Spain and was last taxed in Spain in 1960 and there is an old tax disc which comes with Bessie. She then made her way back to England around 2010. where no one could make out what model she was. this is where I bought her in 2014. With a lot of help from the British Motor Industry Heritage trust. they were able to find the records of when she was built and when she was exported and the heritage certificate comes with her and a new type V5c in my name. Bessie has her original engine. I have taken the head off and found that she has standard Austin 7 original Pistons and there is no wear in the bores at all. so she has not done many miles. The company in Spain built the body that you see today and there is a makers badge on the side of the van. but we can't find any information on the company that made her. All panels on the van are completely original. so even though she was originally going to be a fabric saloon. she is possibly one of the most genuine vans that you could buy today and a complete one off. Running gear Austin 7. Austin 7 engine and Morris 8 four speed gear box. 15 inch wheels and hydraulic brakes all round. all electrics are working perfectly. she is great fun to drive. Stand out from the crowd and have a totally one of Austin 7!She has been inspected by D. V. L. A. Heritage Museum and Austin Seven Owners club. The number plate is not original to the van due to her being an export. but D. V. L. A has given me a nice age related plate.
Please call Wayne rather than text on 07718551750 or 01304 275332 as I prefer to talk to people. I would take an Austin 7 car or Austin 7 project in exchange plus or minus cash either way. Please come and test drive Bessie. you will not be disappointed and the kettle is always on. I would prefer cash or bank transfer but will take PayPal. Happy bidding.
