Welcome to the Auction of our beloved Campervan Genghis.

We have owned Genghis since 2005 (give or take a couple of months when we sold him. and everything else we owned. nbsp;to raise funds to buy a house. but bought him back as soon as funds were replenished).   We have had many a happy holiday and days out. You cannot help but smile when you are in the van. Genghis turns heads wherever you go. It is heartbreaking beyond words to have to sell the van. but due to a new baby. there is not enough room for our expanding family (which also includes a 7 year old bean pole. although a very lovely little bean pole. and an over enthusiastic King Charles Spaniel). Heart. soul. blood. sweat and tears have gone into restoring Genghis. not just ours but our friends too who have helped whenever needed. it is a sad day for all :(

Ok. so lets begin .

GENGHIS

The van is a 1970 early bay. with 76. 00 on the clock. It was imported from Germany. and started it's life as a micro bus. so has factory fitted windows. Genghis passed his MOT in April this year with no advisorys. and as always an added bonus. he is tax expempt. We have tons of history to go with the van dating back to when it was imported.

Bodywork & Interior

The van was restored in December 2011. 2 new doors. sliding door. rear boot lid. all of which came from dry American vans. 2 new front arches. 2 rear corners all fitted professionally. no repair work was needed on the underside of the van as this was 100% rust free. nbsp;did treat with a layer of under seal though. Had a shiny new paint job inside and out. all new window seals. door seals. handles. wipers. lights. new front windscreen and mirrors.   

We have had a brand new interior fitted in March this year by VW Camper Dreams in Wem. including a smeve sink and hob. new fridge 3 way (gas not connected). Leisure battery with USB and 12V sockets. All seats and head lining beautifully recovered. new 12V lights. flooring and door cards. We also have a lovely set of curtains. with runners ready to be fitted along with Just Kampers thermo mats included in the sale.

Engine & Gear Box coversion

I have done the engine conversion myself (with help of many dear friends. one happens to be a mechanic and own his very own 'grime shop' as the missus would call it with a lovely ramp that helped immensly). I was previously running a 2. 2 Subaru legacy engine on the 1600 VW gear box. which was done in 2006. This was removed last as I wanted to upgrade to a 5 speed box for a little extra power. The engine and gear box came from a 1995 Subaru Turbo Impretza estate. The engine was removed with 89. 00 miles on it. and the gear box was rebuilt fitting a Subaru Gears reverse cut ring and pinion kit (imported from Australia. and what a helpful guy he was). The wiring is done by RJES. Stafford. and has all fault lights and original OBD plug. The turbo has been moved so it is no where near the fuel tank. running a charge cooler with the radiator under the van to cool the boost pressure. The cooling radiator is at the front of the van just behind the front panel. this was done so the cooling works 100%. you are unable to see the van is anything but original. There is a heater matrix under the rear seat with a 4 speed fan. so it's nice and toasty on the colder days .   we all know that is very important.

The engine and gear box run perfect. should have around 220 BHP. can have more by a remap if wanted. The van drives lovely and you only really know what power it's got if you put your foot down. Average fuel consumption is 32mpg. The van has been fitted with a VW Bora Servo & master cylinder. new calipers and disc so the breaks are also great.

Rear bumper included in sale. not shown on van as this has recently been resprayed due to scratch . phew . nearly forgot that then !!!!!! OH . AND the hammock which fits over the front seats for little people is also included. the fittings are all in place ready for use.

Ok. so there you have it. a beautiful van ready to go and camp your life away. happy days and crazy nights. only to be enjoyed nothing less . with a reliable engine and gearbox which on road trips a plenty has to be a bonus (unless ofcourse you breakdown next to a pub surrounded by beautiful scenery with the sun shining. then it's just a reason to extend your holiday and drink beer).
