The XKSS is the rarest production model built by Jaguar. A road going conversion of the famous 'D' Type. only 16 were made before production ceased after a factory fire in 1957. It is the forerunner of the E Type. phenominally quick for it's day. and possibly the best looking Jaguar ever built.

This replica was constructed over an eight year period by a professional motor engineer to a very high standard. Based on a Reynard chassis with a high quality grp RAM body and ancilliaries. it has a 4. 2 XK wet sump engine. with a big valve head. triple twin choke Weber 45 DCOE carbs. six branch manifold. 4 speed full synchro gearbox with overdrive. replica Dunlop 'knock offs'. 4 pot calipers with vented discs and full weather equipment.

Producing around 300bhp (as against the original at 250bhp). it is remarkably rapid and handles beautifully. with an absolutely awesome soundtrack from the side exhaust.

Very basic 'creature comforts'. but a lot more fun than an E Type or big Healey.

This example has only done 11. 00 miles since completion in 2003. It is in lovely condition and exudes the 'patina' you would expect with a used and enjoyed classic Jaguar. It is not a 'trailer queen' that you dare not drive. it was built to provide an unbeatable driving experience and put a big smile on your face.

Recently MOT'd. it is registered as a 1967 Jaguar 4. 2. with an interesting period registration number. This example is RHD. as were all the originals. even though they were made for the US market.

What's it worth?
An original. if you could find one. would be around £5 to £8 million.
The Jaguar 'New Build' reincarnations will be in excess of £1. 2 million.
A Lynx replica around £350. 00.
A new build replica would start  at around £120. 00. dependent on spec. if you can find someone to make one.
There are two grp replicas advertised at present for £110. 00.

 A 'must have' for the serious Classic Jaguar collector.
