1937 Dodge Coupe Custom Hot Rod - Rare All Steel RHD

All Steel. although American style coupe body. GL4415 has always been an English car. It was registered in Bath and ordered RHD configuration by a Mrs. White of the White House in Brean. Weston Super Mare. Still got the green document!

I have owned the car for 24 years and it has evolved to its current look after a long 7 year rebuild. approximately13 years ago. David Rothwell at Straight Paint was contracted to do the paint and bodywork. Although. there are no radical modifications done to the bodywork. there are quite a few subtle touches.

 ·       A few pieces of trim and badges have been removed.

·       The headlights have been lowered and new extensions to the hood moulding fabricated.

·       The center section of the grille area has been filled

·       Stainless trim has been lengthened in the rear quarter area

 ·       Rumble seat handle has been removed

·       A recess and a moulding has been added for the rear number plate to the bodywork

·       New smooth running boards have been fabricated

·       New steel floorpan has been installed

·       Cowel vent has been filled and the quarter windows removed

David painted the car Porsche 'apricot Beige'. The Aubergine top paint was added in 2008.

New tempered tinted safety glass.

 Chassis

Stock Dodge. reworked to take the new running gear and drive train. Powder coated black Engine-Chevrolet V8 305cu

Stock condition. aside from detailing. chrome and block hugger headers. Wiring loom reworked by fuel injection specialists in Texas in order for the engine to run.  

New injectors fitted 2011

Stock Chevrolet 700R4 automatic model. This was a brand new unit and is shifted by a Locar shifter .

 Fuel tank is a polythylene repro unit supplied by tanks USA and has a built in electric fuel pump.

By parallel leaf springs with modern telescopic shock absorbers.

Rear Axle

Stock Chevrolet 12 bolt with refurbished brakes.

Front Suspension

'Fat Man Fabrications'. Mustang cross member using stock 'A' arms. All powder coated black. Cost

Steering

Rack and pinion from a Mk1 Vauxhall Cavaliar.

Brakes renew April 2013

Duel circuit using a Corvette master cylinder. Front brakes: 11” vented discs with late model Chevrolet callipers. Rear brakes; Stock Chevrolet drums refurbished

Wheels

Front – 4x15 Polished American Racing Mags

Rear – 7x15 Polished American Racing Mags

Tyres renewed 2012

Front – 155x15 Vredstein radial type

Rear – hecules 205x60x15 radial type

Custom dyed peach leather with chenille material inserts. Grey cloth headliner. All interior is new.

Ford Scorpio front seats. Ford Fiesta seat used as a single rear seat. Seat Belts have been installed.

All trimming professionally carried out by MarTrim of Northwich.

Electronic autometer speedo fitted 2012

Accessories

Goodman's CD radio/cassette with JVC 12 disc auto changer CD.

A Low Car handbrake fitted.
