1972 Oldsmobile W-30 442: American Icon

Numbers matching --  $36. 50 OBO

This would have been your father's Oldsmobile – if your Dad was the COOL dad on the block.

This is a REAL W-30: by 1972. you can tell by the “X” in the VIN.   Numbers matching engine (VIN on block matches VIN on cowl).   Learn about the W machines. including how to authenticate one. here: http://www. 442. com/oldsfaq/ofwmc. htm

There are 93 pictures of the car. including numbers. underside and just about everything else here:

Engine: Engine is the original Olds 455 with the VIN stamped on the block matching the VIN in on the cowl.   Factory aluminum intake manifold. “GA” heads.   Factory high performance W and Z exhaust manifolds. No smoking or leaking.   Runs fine. but not scary fast like I think it a W30 ought to be.   I am in the process of building a spare Olds 455 with Ka heads (new SRP forged pistons etc. ) that I was going to put in the bay so I could beat on it without endangering a numbers matching engine.  If you want that. it'll be extra.

Transmission: GM's bullet proof Turbo 400. with aggressive shift kit. Works as it should.

Interior:  Nice . Black bench. so your honey can slide all the way over and snuggle.   In overall good shape. with the exception of some splits in the front bench.    A new cover is reproduced.   Original mats.    All belts in place.    Dash with factory radio (not working).   In 1972. the Rally Pac was no longer part of the W30 package and whoever ordered this one did not realize that: it comes with idiot lights and aftermarket gauges.

Body and Paint: Southern car; dry; straight.   Very nice underside. Body is believed to be the original sheet metal. and nice.   Gaps line up nice; no waves.   Door dimple on passenger side.   Paint  is older repaint. nbsp; now showing a little wear. but nice overall and completely respectable.   Typical minor stress cracks at cold air intake on OAI hood.

Wheels and tires: Comes with two sets: the original 14 inch SSIIIs. color coded to body. and these 15 inch SSII with  essentially new BFGs. 235/60/R15 fronts. 275/60/R15 backs.

Suspension: New front springs and KYB shocks.   Power steering. power disc brakes. all work well.   Tight.

Miscellaneous: Why am I selling?  To make room for another hot rod. Can one drive this 442 to ________?  It's an old car. so there's no telling and no guarantees.  But I drove it from Houston to Austin (three hours in 100 degree weather) and it felt solid. with no problems.  If you win the car and upon inspection at my premises. keep your money and no hard feelings.  But no returns please; I am trying to reach closure and make space here.

 Thanks.
