1985 FORD CAPRI 2lt ZETEC

Re-listed due to buyer realizing not having a place to store it after holding it for 3 weeks for him (nice one)

Well here is my Ford Capri 2lt 16v Zetec. I got this car July 2009 where it was in a very sorry state I then spent 2 and half to 3 years restoring it with a complete strip down and clean up. including replacing most things and up grading most of the car.

More on the car then. it was originally a 2lt laser but as you can see from the pictures on the car it no longer has the moulding strips down the side as I removed them. The major body work that has been done is the normal Capri type areas such as two new wings sorted one strut top was completely cut out and replaced. both light bowls repaired. A pillars sorted. sills repaired. scuttle repaired. passenger and drivers foot wells repaired. drivers side outer arch replaced inside and outside skin both rear chaise rails repaired and new rear lower panel fitted. Along with that a few other minor areas repaired. Also two rust free doors that were striped right to bare metal and then treated a rust free bonnet. boot. filler cap. and sunroof was also fitted. So as you can see pretty much everything was done before it was painted.

For the mechanical side. it has Blisten suspension all round that was removed from another Capri with - 2” front springs and -2” lowering blocks on the rear single leafs. 3lt brakes all round so bigger drums and vented disks on the front. this is also now running from a custom made bias pedal box with a remote bias control fitted (hence no servo fitted). 5 speed box not the original one though. And the main difference as you can see is the engine. it is a 2lt 16v Ford Zetec (silvertop) running on bike carb's ZX7R's I think. with a custom made manifold from DanST. four branch manifold rest of the system is a modified Peter Lloyd one. the water rail is a homemade one which uses a pinto stat and has all the right take offs for heater and temp sensor spent a lot of time getting this right. Retro Ford DIY engine mount kit. RF alternator mount. a turbosport lightened fly that has been re drilled for a pinto clutch. and the sump is a custom made alloy one made that does not leek. again I have tried many ways for the sum and they all leaked and this sum is spot on. And a few more bits that I cannot think of now.

Interior is mostly a laser one apart from the front seats are recaro fishnets. and the rev counter is an aftermarket one with shift light. built into the dash.

There is a lot more but the car is best viewed when I can then show and talk about everything that has been done to the car. It has been on the road the last two summers and to some of the shows so you may have seen it.

 Being honest the down side to the car is the paint work. it was done by myself and I had problems with the paint and also with the area I sprayed it in. hence the poor finish but the car is rust free nothing a quick blow over can't sort (was the next thing on my list to do). This car has been a long term project for me and I would be very sad to see it go. but if it don't sell I will happily keep it as I do have space to store it.
