 Chrysler New Yorker

1966

1 "lady owner" for some 45 years!!

~~ Immaculate and super original ~~

This is an amazingly brilliant condition Chrysler New Yorker which is 99% original in all aspects. Finished in a light Sage green metallic ("Haze Green") with dark green fabric interior. it is the quintessential definition of a "time-warp" find. With the interior literally like new and the outside sporting mostly original paint. it is like we are looking at this well kept 1966 New Yorker and the year is 1970!

It is a beautiful presenting example that has stunning road-side appeal.

With mostly original paint and only some signs of touch up on the lower sides many years ago. the finish is entirely consistent and lustrous with only the most minor chips and scratches from minimal use and age. There is no unsightly rust. The body is very straight when you look at it at any angle. The car has never been in an accident with all original body panels. Chrome is very good with only some slight thinning on the rear bumper. whilst all other mouldings and fittings are in place by correct clips and secures – no unsightly screws or ugly fasteners and all so straight and shiny. The glass and all external finishes are excellent. The underside is dry and clean. It has all the signs of a "dry US state" car.

Today. it remains part of a private collection in Illinois and as such is professionally stored in a climate controlled facility. It has never seen Chicago snow and salty roads. In the last 2 years she has seen less than 200 summer weekend miles.

Electrics are all good and everything in the car works correctly; lights. radio. gauges. window operation. locks. seat adjustment. seat belts - everything. Even the dash clock ticks away without a beat!

The interior is something to behold. "Excellent". "stunning" and "like new" are true adjectives that come to mind.  It presents absolutely stunningly. The seats are a combination of a dark emerald green with mid-green brocade fabric inserts. They are without any signs of wear or marks bar one. Headlining is literally like new and carpets excellent. There are no cracks in the dash or rear parcel shelf. The wood accents throughout are flawless. The “jelly” green steering wheel is virtually perfect without any cracks. splits or fading and is opaque as the day it was new. The interior is a true credit to the car's maintenance and previous ownership. And also to the manufacturer. The distinctive dash cluster layout. the centre controls and radio are magnificent. The large sliding dual ash-tray is the size of desk draw and is simply very cool. All the chrome. clear plastic facia lenses. knobs and detail are in impeccable condition.

I recently compared the road-feel and driving of this New Yorker with a similar year Cadillac of equal condition and this New Yorker beat its smoothness hands down!  These Chryslers were grossly under-estimated in their day. And their drive and functionality. as well as their stately presentation. seems to have remained a secret (given their lower sales popularity) versus the big 2 of the era.

Mechanically. the car is outstandingly good with an impressive drive-feel and handling. It is clearly the evidence of a well maintained car. On the dash remains the original "service reminder" in use back in the early days.  The exhaust is mostly new as years of minimal use took its toll. It was custom built to exacting factory standards. The tyres are brand new for the same reason. The big 440 V8 engine is as smooth as silk. very quiet and without any vibrations. And. of course. with plenty of power. Everything has been fully tested and inspected with good engine compression. The only restoration I did on the whole car was to remove the valve covers and repaint them in the factory correct turquoise green/blue and replace the air cleaner decal. I did this when I rebuilt the carburettor this spring. Everything else under the hood is original and stock standard. The actual mileage is unknown with the working odometer showing 947 miles. Logic suggests it is 100. 47 but the condition of the car suggests something much less than that (around 30. 00 miles). Notwithstanding. the car is being sold "mileage exempt".

When I originally purchased the car. I was going to use it for a regular summer driver. I was overseas at the time of purchasing the car so never actually saw her before buying. When I returned and saw the car was AS NICE in real-life. I decided it was way "TOO nice" to be used for anything more than weekend touring and so it became part of my collection.

This Chrysler New Yorker sedan is gorgeous and. simply; a very cool and a wonderful highway cruiser. It is very quiet and delightfully smooth to drive.  Even though in my "terms & conditions" I recommend shipping this car to wherever you are. she drives so strong and sure. I think you could hop in and drive her to Timbuktu!

You won't find a better Chrysler classic for your collection. Please feel free to make a sensible offer as she is to be sold!

~~ I am always reticent in making claims on “show standard” so I prefer to err on the side of conservatism by declaring this Chrysler as a 9-out-of-10 driver. Having said that. you could. without any doubt. drive this New Yorker AS-IS is to your next show or meet with complete confidence and pride. You would also be a contender for an award! ~~

Many more photographs are available at the following link. I highly recommended you view these to best ascertain the fine condition of this gorgeous example:

This Chrysler is part of my private collection. I am not a broker or retail car dealer; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of classic cars (primarily British cars).  I take a lot of pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them.  However. auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer. and you are the winning bidder; please understand you have entered a binding contract.  A $2000. 00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal.  The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier's check or bank wire.  I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above. I reserve the right the keep the deposit and any part payments as the case may be. and resell the vehicle by re-listing or to another bidder. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost.

As a collector and experienced restorer of classic cars. I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard but the very nature of any older car is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item. or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Further. a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment. may decide to play-up the next - the car is 47 years old after all. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition:

The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed. written or implied.  Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description. authenticity. genuineness. or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness. unforeseen imperfection. defect or damage.  It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely.  The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer's request prior to the close of the auction.   Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle.  I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any costs including storage. transportation. or repair after the close of the auction.   Also. you must remember that this is a classic +/-47 year old vehicle. and while it is up to you. I would not consider “driving it across the country”. I highly recommend you have it professionally shipped in an enclosed transporter to your location.

PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS. nbsp;DO NOT BID.
