1958 Mercedes Benz 220s Ponton in QLD

"Brunhilde" is a Mercedes Benz 1958 220S Ponton. with a 4 speed manual Hydrak transmission. very well maintained vehicle.
2. 2L straight 6 engine runs well. the Hydrak operates very well.

Paintwork is very presentable. believed to be the only one ever imported of this colour. Lime Green 218.
Some chrome work has been restored. comes with a few spare parts.
Full workshop manual (in German) included.
The Q Plates and some of the grille badges are not included in sale.
Some of the work done so far:
Rear shocks replaced and adjusted
Torque arm bushes replaced
Strut rod bushes replaced
Front wheel cylinders replaced Brake shoes replaced
Right front wheel bearing replaced
Valve guide seals replaced
All gear shift bushes replaced and adjusted
New coil. distributor. rotor. plugs replaced
Steering linkages replaced. steering box serviced and oil topped up
Gearbox fully overhauled
Hydrak Vacuum tank repaired because of rust holes (spare tank included with car)
Vacuum hoses replaced and vacuum strength tested
Electrics to Transmission and Hydrak replaced. adjusted and tested
Hydrak switches adjusted
Hydrak servo seals removed aligned and replaced
Carbs rebalanced and C/O levels adjusted
Radiator re-cored with correct Mercedes Core
Generator re-wound
Voltage regulator replaced
Generator-regulator wiring harness replaced with correct genuine part from Mercedes
Front grille surround. rosette and star rechromed. new grille bars sourced and replaced
Steering wheel replaced (original one was badly cracked in 2 places)
Indicator/horn ring replaced. NOS centre button (rare part very hard to find. took 4 months to find)
Carpets replaced with correct genuine Mercedes Ponton weave (Pontons had rubber matting in the front. but RHD sets are no longer available so the correct carpet was used throughout)
Original MB-Tex seats removed and the covers were repaired and restitched as required. then replaced
Correct Blaupunkt Radio with bakelite surround sourced (it is fully overhauled but not connected. connections are there but never got around to connecting it up. that is next job on the list)
Front guard indicator spears re-chromed and new gaskets fitted. one lense replaced (as it was cracked)
All done using genuine Mercedes Benz parts.
Nearly 80% of all parts for the Pontons are available off the shelf. others can be sourced second hand. NOS or new from literally dozens of places worldwide.
It is on club rego which is not transferable. car is in full roadworthy condition. will pass any mechanical inspection.
