Jaguar Mark 2 Mk2 MkII 3. 4

Cotswold blue with blue leather interior. manual overdrive. Moss gearbox. fitted painted wire wheels (including 5th spare wire wheel).

The car was completely restored to a very high standard by an engineer enthusiast in the early 1990s. with photographic record.

It is still in very good condition throughout. having been waxoyled and kept in a protective environment ('Cair-o-port') during my 10 years of ownership. Sadly now it's for sale due to a house move to a new house without a garage.

The body is in very good condition. which is testament to the work of the previous owner. The door and panel gaps are excellent. The underside is excellent.   However this work was done 20 years ago and the car has been used regularly since then. and the bodywork is not perfect.

The chrome is also very good. There was extensive rechroming done during the restoration and this has lasted well. apart from a small part around the headlight that has peeled.

The interior is in very good condition. The front seats were recovered in leather during the restoration. and inertia reel seatbelts were fitted. retaining the original buckles. The rear seat is original and in good condition with no tears. There was a discreet immobiliser fitted at the same time. The carpets and wood are in very good condition. Unfortunately the rev counter does not work.

Work during my tenure includes a major mechanical overhaul in 2007 by a Jaguar specialist. including engine strip down. de-glazing of cylinder bores and new piston rings. new oil pump. the fitment of unleaded valve seats and new exhaust valves to the cylinder head. new clutch. new radiator. brake overhaul and replacement seals in the back axle. The carburettors have just been rebuilt this year.

The car runs and drives beautifully. The engine pulls strongly. and the Moss gearbox is lovely to use. The overdrive engages smoothly providing effortless high speed cruising. The brakes are progressive and pull the car up evenly. inspiring confidence. There are no clonks or rattles on the move.

The paint on the roof has lifted in places. I believe due to a problem at the time of its application rather than any underlying corrosion. I did consider having the roof stripped and repainted for sale. and received estimates of between £500 and £1. 00 for this. In the end I felt it was better for buyers to see the honesty of the car.

Overall. the car is in excellent order. not perfect but priced accordingly. It is very usable and will be sadly missed.
