Thank you for looking at my listing for my Mk1 Escort which I have owned for several years now and have decided to sell.   With fresh MoT this week 15th August.


Please note that we are located in West Wales near Aberaeron and that it may be a long journey for anyone wanting to view.  With this in mind I have done my best to describe my car accurately and fairly (you will note that I have over 1500 feedback. 100%. and never any negatives).  It is only fair that I describe the vehicle accurately and I hope that any potential buyers would do me the courtesy of being fair also. please no tyre kickers. non serious buyers or low ball offers.  


Mk1 Escort Super 1968.  An early model the rare two door super was the car from which all the first Twincam escorts were built.  This car looking near identical to the escort twincam with type 49 shell. mexico wings and lotus steel wheels. finished in ermine white.  This car is basically a very high specification Mexico.


This is a high spec road car. never rallied and as a result is in superb order.  I am not a concourse owner. I like to get in my vehicle. start it first time and use it.   Therefore it has never wanted for anything. all parts are high quality and have proven to be reliable. this said I have also shown this car a few times and it does look stunning with a bit of polish.  The spec list is pretty big with most parts being fitted new within the last 2 years (with just a couple of hundred miles on them).  I have always kept this car garaged and as dry as possible.  How you see it in the pics is how I keep it. clean and tidy but I'm not one for cleaning the tyres with a toothbrush.


Briefly: Everything has been upgraded or rebuilt. full bare metal respray 6 years ago. 140bhp 1700cc Vulcan crossfolw engine running on R1 bike carbs. new Tran X slip diff etc etc.


Car is 48 years old. there are a small number of small surface bubbles in the paint but they are only surface imperfections the car is very solid and sound and the shell is superb with just a small dink/imperfection in the passenger door which can only be seen at a certain angle when the light is right.  (I do not know of any 48 year old cars that are genuinely mint and would say that this car is nearly as good as could be hoped for without buying a £15. 00 shell).

Undoubtedly one of the smoothest crossflows you will ever see. this is a really good engine with a large number of new parts. fully serviced and in great order.  It drives really well fast or slow and is a car suitable for daily use should you wish.

September 2015 continued:

Brakes stripped and rebuilt.

Fit quarter bumpers with brand new brackets

Fit and paint brand new rear period correct boot mounted battery tray and new battery re-wire.

Flush rad/engine and fresh coolant

Oil and filter change

April 2016:

New Battery (needs replacing as is period wet type and could do with a sealed type)

Brand new Toyo Proxes tyres all round

July 2016:

Tran X Slip Diff and rare 3. 7:1 crown wheel and pinion diff assembly fitted with new plates

Brand new lumenition rev limiter fitted

Dash top re upholstered in genuine leather

Brand new roller top mounts

Brand new front suspension

Brand new rose jointed quick shift

New water pump and housing

Some new engine hoses

Tracking

Rad/engine flush and fresh coolant

Paint clocks

Brand new full Luminition balast ignition system


I will be sorry to see her go but it is time to move on. I have never abused this car. never taken it out on salty winter roads and always treated it better than my other vehicles.


Not really any bad bits. one small rip in the back seat about 1" long. bonnet could probably fit a little better as the panel gaps aren't even. rev counter is a bit jumpy and not very good past 4k rpm but only due to age - brand new rev limiter fitted July 2016 so no need to worry about over reving.  And that's about it. I will add anything else I think of.


Note:  Photos taken today 15th August 2016. the two images of the underside were taken when it was bare metal resprayed in 2010 and the underside remains outstanding.

I have spent so much money and fitted so many new parts to this car that I have certainly missed some bits. I will add them if they come to mind.
