I bought this 66 F100 from the original owner in Tennessee 2 years ago. I drove it home to Canada where I was living at the time. I've recently moved to California and need to regretfully sell the truck due to a change of circumstances. I have invested a lot of money and time into totally rebuilding and upgrading this truck over the past couple of years. Since completion I have put 4. 00 miles on it and 2. 00 miles of those were driving it from Canada to California a couple of weeks ago with zero issues. It cruises comfortably at 80 mph and surprisingly returns 15 MPG due to the overdrive transmission and the motor being precisely tuned.
Originally this truck came with a 352 FE V8 which was getting tired and lacking in performance.  So I had the world renowned FE motor builder Barry Robotnick at Survival Motorsports in Michigan build the motor to perfectly suit the application at a cost of almost $15. 00 and it has only covered 4. 00 miles. The motor was purposely built for huge low rpm torque to make for very effortless driving with the manual transmission and it was built as strong as possible to make it bullet proof. Some of the specifications are as follows.  390 Block Bored. Honed with torque plates. Line Honed and Paralleled Deck. 445 Stroker Kit with H Beam Steel Rod Upgrade and Steel Crank Upgrade. Dished Pistons. Hydraulic Flat Tappet camshaft with a mild duration for low rpm torque. it only revs to around 5. 00 rpm so the steel bottom end with H Beam rods should last forever. Rocker Stands with End Supports. Ported and slightly modified Iron Heads. Canton high capacity winged Oil Pan. Modified oil galleries to Barry's own specification to improve oiling. High flow water pump. Melling high volume oil pump with ARP oil pump drive.  Holley fuel pump and modified Holley 750 carburetor with vacuum secondary's to Barry's specifications mounted to Edelbrock intake. It makes around 500 lb/ft of torque and pulls hard right from 1. 00 rpm. And it produces around 400 bhp.

I had Muffler Man as used by Hot Rod Garage and seen occasionally on Roadkill  TV Show build a custom exhaust system with Hooker headers and it sounds perfect. like an old 1960's Galaxie NASCAR. I had Pro Gear rebuild the original DANA 44 POSI rear end and the transmission. And I had a new driveshaft made. All new suspension from DJM  including I beams. front and rear springs. shocks and shackles lowering the truck 3-4 inches. It has all new brakes including front disc conversion from a 1973 F100 with GM style brake booster. Power steering also came from a 1973 F100 with a rebuilt pump and steering box. The steering column had to be professionally modified and shortened to fit the power steering box so as to retain the 1966 style steering wheel and the shifter linkage had to be modified to work with the shortened column. And it all operates faultlessly. All new brake lines and hoses have been installed. It has MSD electronic ignition and a heavy duty alternator. It also has a high torque starter motor for instant starting every time. This truck starts. runs and idles perfectly and it drives beautifully with no issues at all. Even idling in traffic in Phoenix last week in 120 degrees it never got hot or spat out any coolant. And it has no fuel boiling issues in the heat. I would drive this truck anywhere.
The interior is mostly all all new.  Sound deadening has been installed on the floor. in the doors and around the back of the cab. New carpet. new door panels and re-trimmed seat with correct Ford center emblem stitched in. It has the correct RetroSounds stereo with USB connector with Hidden Audio speakers and it works great and looks factory. All gauges work as new since being rebuilt by Nevada Speedometer in Reno and all light up correctly at night. It has a period correct Auto Meter tach installed. It has a new correct 1966 Ford steering wheel. Everything works like new on this truck. even the original cigarette lighter for charging your phone! All door window seals are new. There is some very minor cracks in the original dash pad but not enough to bother me. It needs a windshield seal which will be installed before the new owner collects. The original factory gun rack is a nice unique feature.
The body on this truck is completely solid with no structural rust at all. The floors. rockers. cab corners and cab mounts are all totally rust free. The only rust on this truck is in the usual place on the front of the hood but this never bothered me and I did not want to repair it because I didn't want to ruin the patina. The doors. hood and tailgate all open and close smoothly. The rims are new Crager Deluxe 69's clad with new BF Goodrich Radial TA's.  15x7 on the front and 15x8 on the rear.
The transmission is a rare factory option which is an absolute pleasure to use and makes for very refined high speed cruising. It is a 3 speed manual with the very strong and sought after Borg Warner overdrive unit. Its very simple to operate and has been fully rebuilt. The overdrive drops the rpm's to 2250 rpm at 80 mph with the current tire size. And with the huge low rpm torque of the motor you do not need to shift very often if you are feeling lazy making driving this old manual truck effortless. The clutch is a new heavy duty unit but is very smooth to operate in traffic without the usual on/off characteristics of most heavy duty clutches.
The goal with this truck was to do something a little different to the current trend of fitting modern drivetrain. steering and suspension to an old truck to make it drivable and usable in modern driving conditions. I wanted to achieve the same outcome as that but use old technology so as to retain the charm of driving an old truck but make it more drivable and capable of cruising at high speeds. I definitely achieved this with this build. It is effortless to drive with the power steering. power disc brakes and all of that usable torque. It is 100% reliable. It drives and handles quite comparibly to say a 80s/90s Ford truck but it's faster than most brand new trucks and looks great cruising along the interstate at 80 mph with the engine comfortably burbling away at just 2250 rpm. And the fuel mileage is surprisingly good if driven sensibly.
Overall this is a unique truck. There is nothing else like it. I'm very reluctantly selling it. If you are purchasing from a long way away and wish to fly out and drive it home then you should be very confident doing so. I would drive this truck anywhere and recently drove it from Canada to California 2. 00 miles cruising around 75 mph most of the way in extreme heat with no issues at all. I am also happy to assist in helping you arrange shipping if you prefer.
So much has been done to this truck so I am sure I have forgotten to mention some things. But basically it is all new mechanically using the best and most heavy duty parts available.
This truck has a clear California Title.
