Up for sale here is a 1971 HQ Holden sedan done upto to a Monaro GTS Replica. Originally a Duchess Gold HQ Kingswood.   Car was painted about seven years ago by previous owner in 2k Sable Metallic with Lone Oranger Stripes and GTS Blackouts. GTS guards. GTS grill and GTS badging.   Paint is solid but not a $20k show car paint job. has some imperfections upon real close inspection.  Couple small rust spots. i have close ups of spots and imperfections(I am fussy). I bought the car with no intention of selling 6 years ago. but i need the money to finish other projects. As i have 2 prolapsed discs in my back i cant complete alot of work myself anymore so have to pay mechanics now. A Regretful Sale for me.

Please read the description fully. as i will explain as much detail as possible to avoid any unknowns or dissappointment. Unlike the guy i bought it off in NSW. I prefer buyers to know as much as possible. i am an enthusiast and know what its like to be told one thing only to get something else. I purchased the car in 2010 for around $15k. It has seen the road twice since then. as i had to fix things that were supposedly done. but weren't done right. I have had to replace the motor. diff . seats and door trims. dash. wheels and tyres. exhaust etc. And of coarse during this time the repairs and money i spent on it were fixing it to keep. not to sell. And its taken me along time as Im not working. nbsp;so it takes awhile for me to save the money. Only in the past few weeks have i decided to sell. If you need to ask me details about the car that i have already listed in the description below then i gather you have not read the description. which means this is probably not the car for you. I want to sell the car to a person that knows and appreciates a classic. There will be no joy rides. Test drive up and down drive is fine and only if geniune interest as i have to move 2 cars out to get to this. No low balling. i might need the cash but i can sit on this car for years if need be. Its only going to appreciate in value. Enquires can be sent through here. I reserve the right to not sell it to a person if i think they are not geniune and passionate about the car. Not here for you to try and get it cheap. just to add a few grand and sell it to someone else for profit. Tired of enthusiasts getting rippped off by so called fellow enthusiasts. I have video footage of under the car and also of the car running for those interested also. So if your still keen read below. Cheers.

Now the details. it has a black interior done in longrain vinyl. Front seats were replaced with correct HQ buckets in black longrain vinyl with black cloth inserts. Rear seats had been recently retrimmed in black long grain vinyl. New GTS black longrain vinyl door trims. Has original HQ seat belts in tan (was going to replace with black ones). headlining is black and in OK condition. but i would suggest putting a new one in eventually as its not perfect. Carpets were pulled out and floor was given a coat of sound deadener (Floors NOT rusty) and brand new underlay was installed. Brand new black loop carpet was installed front and rear. Has a proper HQ centre console (small hole). but has premier lid (was eventually replacing it with a monaro lid). Original GTS dash installed and also a new GTS steering wheel.

Motor that came with the car was shagged and replaced with a QR 253 motor. Edlebrock 4bbl manifold. Quadrajet carby. Trimatic Auto. Factory headers. old exhaust was replaced with a brand new twin exhaust system. Banjo was replaced with a Salisbury diff (3. 08 ratio i think). Cragar mags are near new and are 15x7 fronts with 15x8 rears. They have near new Yokohama tyres (98%). 205/65's on front and 352's 265/50's on rear (Hard to find 352's these days). These wheels and tyres have been lucky to see the road half a dozen times and cost me close to $3k all up. They were on my HQ ute until i changed wheel set up on my ute. Also a new heavy duty front sway bar and bushes was installed.

Now i am selling it with the following minor issues that i am aware of. They are simple things if you are mechanically apt. will cost bugger all to fix. I would do most myself but as i said i have bad back issues and can hardly do alot of the work i used to. If it doesnt sell i will probably end up fixing the issues but i would then be selling the car at a higher price to cover the costs.

Needs carby rejetted/rebuilt to suit a 253 (ildes fine. revs fine under idle but bogs down to point of sometimes flooding/stalling if accelerating to fast. too much fuel im assuming) and probably needs a good tune as there is a little popping every now and then. (I have new set plugs that go with the car)

After a few years of sitting i would do a full check over the brakes. (It stops fine up and down my drive way. but has alot of pedal movement compared to my other HQ's. I wouldnt feel safe on roads until this has been checked out properly. but thats just me!!)

After sitting for the past few years transmission pan has a leak now that i have had the car running and driving up my driveway. Shifts into gear prefectly. with no hesitation. (I have a new gasket and filter for that too)

Ignition is touchy. so either needs replacement (barrel) or adjustment (rod). Another easy job. Car turns over just fine. you just need to find the sweet spot at times.

Drivers window feels stiff. Winds up and down. but seems resistant. May just need adjustment. but i will privide a working window regulator with the car just in case.

So these are the isssues that i would address before hitting the road. As i said if you know what your doing and can do it yourself. it should cost you bugger all in cash to do it. just your time.

The car has been on club registration for the past few years. but has not seen the road at all. Car was signed off by a mechanic to get registration. I had since then turned my attention to my other HQ's to finish them so this car got put in the back shed. Hasnt seen rain since i have owned it either except for the day it came to my place from NSW.

As i said with the brakes and tuning not tested. i would only be allowing test drives up and down my drive to geniune people interested. If something goes wrong on the road i dont want anyone hurt or my car damaged. For me my car and people safety is important. For interstate interest. yes i am happy to ship interstate. As long as you organise the freight. I do know a good reliable interstate car mover i can put you onto. He is reliable and reasonably priced and delivers to most states. I am most times day or night.

I have this advertised elsewhere and reserve the right to remove this car at anytime. All geniune enquiries or offers considered. I'm still in two minds whether to sell. so i reserve the right to cancell auction at anytime if i can work out a way to keep the car. Only swap i would consider is a HQ panelvan (restorer. not finished one) and cash my way. Not really interested in anything else. No Fjords. Modern Cars. Bikes. Tuner crap etc.

So if you have got to this part. thank you for your interest. Sorry for the long description but i want to outline as much as possible to people so they know exactly whats on offer. I want this car to go to a home that is a geniune HQ lover like myself. I have 6 HQ's but selling this will reduce it to 5. but hopefully give me enough money to finish my other 5 so i can enjoy them.

Thanks again for looking. Cheers
