1966 JAGUAR S-TYPE 3.8 AUTOMATIC for sale

The car was subject of a major restoration from 2003-2005 and various upgrades were made to make this S'Type ideal for regular use. A comprehensive file accompanies the car with thousands of pounds worth of invoices and some restoration photographs. There is paperwork detailing the majority of work that included removing the engine. stripping it down and rebuilding. The crankshaft was re-ground. bearings replaced. a 420 oil pump fitted and the cylinder head rebuilt and converted to unleaded. The water pump was replaced. drive belts replaced. carburettors rebuilt. XJ6 rack and pinion power assisted steering fitted and an uprated alternator fitted. Electronic ignition was fitted. two solid state fuel pumps fitted. the fuel tanks replaced. the wiring loom replaced and the propshaft was treated to new universal joints and sliding joints and then balanced. the gearbox was fully re-conditioned and a new torque converter fitted.
JYL 927D drives superbly and having only covered 13. 00 miles since rebuild all replaced components are still in very good order. The car rides superbly and at the point of restoration the suspension was treated to new springs. shock absorbers. all new bushes and the braking system treated to a new servo and all calipers were rebuilt with new pistons and seals and all new brake hoses and pipes fitted. The bodywork is today in excellent order and was subject of a major refurbishment that included new inner and outer sills. lower wing sections and new jacking points. More recently. due to a micro-blistering issue. the S'Type has been subject of a bare metal re-paint to a very high standard and as a result the car has an exceptional gleaming. glass finish. Further to this. chrome work is of a lovely standard and ten years ago the original seats were re-covered as original with new leather and carpets were replaced with a high quality material.
In conclusion. this is a very smart. usable S'Type that has had a substantial amount of money spent on it. Its structurally excellent. has stunning paintwork with excellent straight panels and has nicely aged chrome and is equipped with Pirelli tyres. The interior has lovely woodwork. original door cards. smart headlining and seats. The engine bay is tidy. as is the boot area and the car drives incredibly well. This is not a ‘concours' car. but is certainly a beautiful looking car that is ideal for regular use and the most recent owner has kept the car in storage in North Yorkshire. using it for weekend touring of the North Yorkshire moors and East Coast when staying in the area for long weekends.
