Welcome to this auction for the sale of my GMC 353 Bolster Tractor / Trailer unit. Used during world war 2 for transporting of bridging pontoons to aid the allied advance across France and Germany after the D Day landings at Normandy. These rare trucks with out doubt played a vital role in the crossing of all major rivers . This truck is a 1944 truck and has the front mounted self recovery winch fitted and is fully operational . It is fitted with the GMC straight six petrol engine and has just had a full Axle / Transmission and engine service . It is still running on the original 6 volt system and has electronic ignition for reliability and improved performance . The truck runs well and the brakes are spot on. There is absolutely no rust issues on this truck. It has just had a new fuel pump fitted and a fully overhauled carburetor . new fan belt . New battery and a re cord radiator with all new hoses. 2 new tyres were fitted last year and still look new. nbsp; The slip pole trailer is made by Highway trailers of Winsconsin and is dated 1945 as is the 20 foot cargo deck which has the spare wheel bracket on the head board and the tractor is fitted with a rare wooden steering wheel also. Truck was on the front cover of Classic military Magazine with a 6 page spread inside In april 2015Pioneer tools are fitted to the tractor unit and loading lights to the rear. There is locker boxes on the catwalk and on the near side chassis all of which are standard issue and there is a mass of accessories in and around the truck all of which are as detailed as the vehicle . It is the long wheelbase chassis (353) and runs on the Banjo axles . MOT and TAX exempt and very low insurance premium and a very good spares network making servicing very easy.   The truck has a new set of seat cushions and seat backs and a set of 1/2 doors . Has had thousands spent on it over the years and loads of spare parts included to the winning bidderThis is a truly rare opportunity to obtain a rare piece of US history as these trucks are said to be in single figures in the UK. It has been to dozens of shows and also to Normandy with no issues what so ever and is a very well known truck through out the UK and would be a great addition to a collector / enthusiast. It turns heads and brings out the cameras where ever it goesThis Vehicles needs for nothing other than a new owner that will look after it the way it deserves. Potential bidders / buyers are more than welcome to view but by appointment due to work commitments and is only for sale due to a new project  and no room for both !!!Price and minimum offer reduced as it must go in the next 2 weeksIf no sensible offer is received I will happily keep hold of it and make room for the other project  ( it really is that nice !!! )potential buyers who come to view will be shown photos of work carried out and a mountain of receipts for parts fitted. No test drivers and no tyre kickers please . nsulting and ridiculous offers will be ignored. This is quite possibly one of the nicest GMC trucks out there and viewing is highly recommended.   Would consider Part exchange for a US Heavy wrecker preferably Ward La France M1A1 0r SWB Diamond T 968AViewing is highly recommended as the pictures don't do it justiceAny questions will be gladly answered and viewings arranged by calling 07863225951  /  01538388197Cash on collection / bank transfere or cleared cheque before pick up or delivery ( no paypal due to fees )This is obviously a collection only sale but can arrange transport at costVehicle will not be dispatched till all money has clearedThanks for your understanding.
