1968 Jaguar Mk2 2. 4 240 Manual with Overdrive
Full MOT and runs smoothly but suspected head gasket - with mechanics report

Full MOTTax exemptLast owner 16 yearsRecent discs. ball joints and springs

Old English white (cream) with gorgeous red Amblin interior. wood dash and fog lights.
Interior:Recent carpet throughout. The interior is in very good 'original' condition. The seats are undamaged and a nice bright red still. The original seat belts with Jaguar logos are fitted. the belts are a little dirty. The headlining is in mint condition with no damage but it is dirty and in need of a steam clean. Chrome door trims are all present and in very good condition with only light pitting in places. The wood is all present and undamaged but the varnish a little dull. A simple sand and varnish would bring the dash up beautifuly. All the switches still have their markings and are complete and functioning. The dials look amazing and ahead of their time. All handles and knobs work. the choke is fully functioning and the level in excellent condition.
Structurally:Structurally she appears to be sound. She had a chassis leg replaced a couple of years ago and has recently had welding to the sill which is yet to be re-sprayed. The last owner claimed to have kept on top of issues and this looks very true. There appears to be no current or imminent welding needed and no structural issues. a new MOT reflects this.
Bodywork/paint:This is where work is required but nothing too daunting. She looks straight and true. Every panel lines up perfectly. Doors close with a heavy and distinct clunk. All the hinges are excellent. nothing has dropped or warped. The panels look mostly solid and straight. I can see a small amount filler around one corner of the windscreen which is to be expected on one of these. in fact Id usually see a lot more. The window surrounds are solid. the rain gutter is excellent with no corrosion at all. In fact if you're on a budget I wouldn't touch the roof as it needs nothing. The doors are straight. The drivers shows evidence of a small amount of filler. The rear drivers side has had its day. Needs a new skin due to the bottom being blistered. The frame may well need replacing too.  The other doors all look solid (although for the sake of £40 a skin you'd be mad not to simply replace all four).
A full respray would increase the value significantly as there are some small areas that look a little weathered. Other than the door mentioned theres not much else to highlight. All the rubbers are sold however they probably wouldn't survive being removed and being refitted so you'd need a new set. The chrome will mostly polish up to a satisfactory level.

A little light surface rust near the exhaust and under the arches but a light sanding and sealing would go a long way.
I don't think you'll be poking any holes in this one! The wheels look scabby. no point lying. then need sandblasting and re-painting. The chrome caps will need replacing. It may be beneficial to simply replace all wheels and tyres once she's been painted. While that's been done you could have the wood from the interior in your kitchen having a new coat of varnish. Happy days!
Engine:She has had a replacement carb and new spark plugs. She starts and runs well however I've a mechanics report saying the head gasket is suspicious so this will need doing and although she runs you'll need to get her trailered away. I can help with this if needed.
Overall:She is a lovely. honest car. Has had a lot done fairly recently. Including: New petrol tank. brake servo unit. discs. ball joints. front coil springs. The dash looks stunning. the dials are like new. Personally Im sure that a new door. paint job. cleaning of the headlining and re-varnish wood dash would make this a very very wise investment and a relatively easy DIY project.
The car is in Harborne. Birmingham. Viewing is recommended to appreciate this historic beauty. I see all kinds of cars but few get the attention this gets. Old and young. people stop totalk about her. and thats before new paint! I can get this car couriered cheaply. please email or text me your postcode for a quote. Cash on collection or bank transfer if using a courier and only with ID.
