Ford Cortina 2. 0GL Mk IV

 

The fourth generation Cortina was a more conventional design than its predecessor with the restyled body quickly became very popular with the public and fleet buyers alike with strong sales right through the production run.

 

Our 2. 0 litre GL model was purchased new from Chilton Motors. Pembroke on 27th February 1979 by Mr. P. Sutton. a private purchaser. who specified the 2. 0 litre pinto engine and paid an additional £26. 28 for Jupiter Red metallic paint.

 

Today the car is completely original apart from the desirable (Type9) five speed gearbox upgrade. More recently the Cortina has had a new clutch. /span>

radiator. timing belt. water pump. suspension components etc.

 

The stunning tan cloth interior complements the lovely metallic red body and the addition glass area of the Mk4 makes this a lovely car to use and enjoy.  The history folder contains the original Bill of Sale. owner's handbook. drivers operating guide. Cortina accessories book. main dealers tax holder. MOT's back to March 2000 and a variety of supporting invoices. The Cortina is a real pleasure to drive. the five speed gear box easily keeps up with modern road conditions. and the car receives non-stop attention whenever you park.

 

Despite its status as Britain's bestselling car throughout its production run the MkIV is now the rarest of all Cortina's and nice examples of this 1970's icon are few. As the prices for Escort & Capri models cntinues to rise rapidly this very rare car offers something a little different for the discerning Ford enthusiast and will give years of pleasure to the lucky new owner.
