There have been many special versions of the Golf over the years and the Golf Country is one of the rarest. This example is one of only 558 produced with the De-Luxe "Chrompacket" conversion all in left hand drive and powered by the reliable 1. 8 litre 8v engine. These versions feature Chrome wheels. ull Bars. side steps. sliding sun roof. an engine and cab pre-heater with electronic timer and Beige leather trim. Designed for light off road use in cooperation with Steyr Puch. standard features include Synchro 4 wheel drive. additional suspension travel. extra ground clearance. nderneath protection for the engine and transmission and a spare wheel mounted on a swing away frame at the rear.
This car was found by me 8 years ago in Holland after a long search for a complete original 'Chrom' edition car in excellent condition. It has proved a totally reliable car over the 8 years of my ownership. It has spent three of the last four years in Greece and it has now completed the journey twice with no difficulty. It is fully registered and taxed for use in the UK and has a years Mot.  The sliding sun roof has had a new cover fitted by a Webasto specialist at a cost of over £600 after the old one shrunk in the sun. In the las few years it has also had a new exhaust and complete replacement of Brake lines. Minor faults are. 1. Crazing to the paint on a section of the bonnet. again I think caused by the over-exposure to the sunlight. 2. A small amount of surface bubbling to paintwork on a part of the rear window surround.
This is a well loved car and I am only selling it because I am no longer using it other than when I come back occasionally to the UK.

I currently have an agreed valuation insurance policy of £10500 which reflects the rarity and condition of this car.

This sale includes around £500 worth of parts including Thule lockable roof bars. an extra spare wheel. a new unused electric wind winder mechanism. European headlights. most parts to do a rear disc conversion. spare ECU. a set of Polyurethane bushes. etc. etc.
