This is another XJC from my collection.  This is a Daimler 4. 2 Automatic in Green Sand with Beige Leather interior and factory fitted air conditioning.  It has one driver from 1978 with a detailed Passport to Service record.  The engine was replaced at 27029 miles in 1981 and this is fully recorded with a new service book with every stamp until the car stopped being used.  It is not unusual to find one of these books with an old Jaguar but this one has every stamp from London Jaguar dealerships. averaging 3-4. 00 miles a year until 1995 when the driver laid the car up.  I bought it as a very good project requiring general bodywork and it could easily have been quickly patched and repainted without too much work.  If you look at my other cars you will see that this is not what we do. The engine. gearbox and running gear were very good so the car was stripped to the shell before being properly repaired with new floors and sills and repainted to a very good standard in the original colour.  I have all parts to reassemble including a full new rubber set and some better bumpers than the originals which were corroded.  I also have a set of polished (not painted! GKN Kent Alloy wheels with new tyres that will finish this one off very well.
So. this Daimler now requires reassembly which is a straightforward process for us to do. Subject to an agreement this work can be done in my workshops for a fixed price and we can incorporate some extras or improvements for you like electronic ignition and stainless exhausts. My price of £9750 is for the restored shell with all parts to rebuild including the refurbished Kent wheels. I will reassemble this car with all new rubbers seals. new carpets. headlining. rebuilt braking system and new MOT at a fixed price of £5. 00 which would give you an exceptional one driver XJC with full history at a target price of less than £15. 00.  
I would advise against modifying this one too much as it really is a nice example and has all the ingredients to be a valuable part of a collection.  If you are considering an XJC Think carefully before taking on a rusty project car. the cost of getting one to this condition with someone else doing the work can be immense. As with most things in life it is better to pay a little more for something that has either been properly sorted or set your sights lower to a four door which is still a great car and appreciating rapidly.  I have other XJC with similar provenance in V12 and 4. 2 form. I also have a couple of saloons including the rarest S1 Daimler Vdp V12.

It really does help to see your target car stripped so that you can check that all the work required has been completed to a good standard.  Areas like the rear window bases cannot be seen unless a vendor is prepared to undertake a large trim strip to gain access.  Patched up sills and floors will always need replacement within a short time of ownership and that's a big bill that includes paintwork.
