1974 MERCEDES 350 SL AUTO SILVER R107 350SL SL350 VED EXEMPT

Mercedes 350SL built Dec 1974 registered 01/01/1975 hence it qualifies as a historic vehicle and is entitled to free road tax.
Purchased by me in 2007 at a cost of £12000 - I have the purchase receipt.
10 former keepers. I am the 11th owner
Lots of history although it is incomplete. I have:
- 22 old MOT's
- The original 1970s service book with stamps
- Original owners Manual
- Documentation showing several registration changes
I have no reason to doubt that the mileage is correct although the service history is incomplete so I can't guarantee the mileage.

This vehicle has just failed the MOT and needs the following to pass the MOT:
- front and rear subframe bushes replacing
- corrosion on all inner arches and sill ends attending to
- both seatbelts need replacing/fixing as they do not retract
- front brakes need work as they are not applying evenly

In addition. non essential work as follows:
- minor corrosion to boot floor
- dashboard vinyl has split
- there is no radio
- the tyres have lots of tread left however they are now at least 10 years old
- small rust bubble next to passenger door handle
- some pitting on chrome

Mechanically. this car sailed through the emmissions test and starts first time. I am no mechanic so I cannot comment any further but it drives fine. I have no idea if it has been converted to unleaded so I always use fuel additive.

The paintwork was resprayed by the previous owner and is shiny giving the car a very smart appearance which turns heads. A front spoiler from a later SL has been fitted. Likewise. alloys are from a later SL and are in very good condition. Front spotlights are fitted however they are not wired up. The clock has been disconnected to avoid flattening the battery.

The soft top is in very good condition with no rips or tears. There is a hardtop in silver in good condition. A stand will be included for this. The interior is in good condition and appears to have been retrimmed by the previous owner.

I will be gutted to sell this car after 9 years of ownership. however I have been quoted £2000 to get her through the MOT and I cannot justify that given the few times per year that I use it. Therefore. this car is sold as an MOT failure for spares or repair. It is a great shame as she does look as good as the photos and is a real head turner but my time with her has come to an end.
