Jaguar MK7  A very early (Jan 1952) all matching numbers. full known history.  manual gearbox car. Was supplied new to its first owner who lived on the Champs Elysees. Paris and it has remained in France (yes it is RHD) ever since which may explain its remarkably sound bodywork. Some years ago restoration was started and the car is partially stripped.   The underside has been gritblasted (and primed) so any rust that there is has no hiding place.   It needs a few local repairs but really is very sound. the sills. bottoms of the doors. front wings. spats are all good.   The MK7 body is a complex thing normally requiring specialist skills to restore but any remotely competent bodyshop could have this one ready for paint in minimal hours so anyone about to start restoring a rusty car could save themselves a small fortune using this body.

Sat back in the chassis now for transport. the engine and gearbox had been removed. The bottom end of the engine has been stripped and rebuilt. the cylinder head (the correct early type with studless front cam covers) looks good with no corrosion.

Various new parts have been acquired such as windscreen rubber. exhaust system. brake linings as well as suspension joints which have been fitted to keep the car on its wheels.

The head lining is still in and is undamaged if quite grubby. it is. though sometimes amazing how well these cloth linings wash in situ. The seats are showing their age although they have no significant damage and again. some impressive products are available these days to revive leather.   The door panels are past it though and the carpets have long since gone so will need making.

Though partially stripped. I'm confident it's all there and has many parts duplicated as a second (terminally rusty) car was dismantled for spares.

Would make an excellent starting point for a restoration project of a proper. early manual MK7 or indeed would make a fantastic basis for a HRDC Touring Greats race car. with which you are far more likely to get an invite to Goodwood than with “another A40”!

I'd rather it stayed whole and was sold whole but if there is no interest. I will consider breaking it. or keeping the engine for example if you want a racer and already have a D type motor!  Either way. the Old Girl needs to leave here. and pretty quickly. so if you have any interest in the whole or parts please express it. I have a sense of humour. so no offers will offend!
