1959 JAGUAR MKI 2.4 MOD

The MKI returned from South Africa with an outstanding original bodyshell with excellent underside and excellent factory panel gaps and door closures. During 1990/1991 the Jaguar was treated to a full re-paint and the body didn't require any new panels or welding work. Clearly this Jaguar benefits from having spent most of its life in a dry climate and returned to the UK totally solid and in excellent structural condition. Further to the paintwork. the upholstery was re-trimmed and the car fitted with a stainless steel exhaust system. During the late 1990's the Jaguar was in storage and changed hands again in 2002. In 2003 the MKI was treated to a new wiring loom and in the spring of 2004 the Jaguar was fitted with a new clutch. the radiator re-cored and the carburettors rebuilt by Burlen fuel systems. In 2005 the brakes were overhauled with new old stock parts and later that year the car was taken back to Browns Lane to mark the 50th anniversary of the MKI Jaguar. Between 2005 and 2015 the Jaguar covered very few miles and was off the road between 2009 and 2015. Since 1990 just 3000 miles have been completed so since returning to the UK it has covered very low mileage. During the summer of 2014 the engine was removed and stripped down ready for a rebuild. The engine was treated to new big end and main bearings. the crankshaft was re-ground and a new oil pump was fitted. All new gaskets were used and the water pump and hoses replaced.

The Jaguar was MOT tested and back on the road in June 2015 and on arrival with us was driven to our workshop Malton Coachworks. The car was subject of a general check over and various issues identified that are typical for a car covering very little mileage in 25 years. The Jaguar is being sold with a rebuilt steering box. new subframe mounts. new front lower ball joints. new rear panard rod bushes. rebuilt front brake cylinders. new rear spring mounting pads. new steering shaft universal joint coupling and a full service with Millers lubricants. As a result of the previous work and our recent work. the Jaguar is being sold in very strong mechanical order and is a beautiful driving car with a strong. healthy. rebuilt engine. delightful Moss gearbox with working overdrive and excellent suspension. steering and braking systems.

This MKI is now in strong mechanical order. has a superb. straight original bodyshell with gleaming paintwork and chrome. It boasts a splendid engine bay with excellent. nicely painted bulk head and inner wings. finely detailed engine and ancillaries and with its top class factory door shuts. classy original spats and gorgeous paint and re-trimmed upholstery; this really is a delightful collectors car that can proudly attend shows and importantly. having had a high level of mechanical work carried out over the years. can and should be used on a regular basis whether long distance touring or just local miles. This is a real gem; it's honest. retains originality and is in fine fettle in every department.
