The Mustang story has been told many times over but it is worth re-iterating that the model still holds the record for the most units sold in a launch year. with over 600. 00 being snapped up by eager young American buyers. Though based on the Falcon saloon the Mustang styling was very European compared to most American offerings of the day. The C1 Corvette was about to give way to the angular C2 and there was little else on offer to excite the young buyers that was home grown.

The most popular Mustang. by far. was the Coupé. with the Fastback coming in second and the convertible a distant third. The Coupé was also the model chosen for saloon car racing and the Fastback for GT races. This fact has pushed up the price of the Coupé. because there are far more classic saloon car grids than GT and the Coupé is the only model homologated for classic saloon racing. where they still do very well.

This vehicle is a genuine factory GT A code car. UK registered in 2015.  289ci  V8 engine. C4 auto box. metallic silver blue. blue crinkle vinyl and blue rosette vinyl interior. rare front bench seat option.

A UK professionally restored vehicle over a 12 month period exactly to the correct door tag code when registered in San Jose. California in 1966.

With parts invoices totalling over £29K and in excess of 500 man hours of labour. thus producing one of the finest examples of a 1966 GT coupe. with perfect shut lines all round and an amazing attention to detail. this is without a doubt the best of the best.
