Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140. the
XK150 was radically modernised. A one piece windscreen replaced the
split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the
doors. The bonnet was widened. opened down to the wings and on the
roadster. the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the
bonnet longer. In the interior. the XK140's walnut dashboard was
replaced by one trimmed in leather and chrome. On the early
drophead coupés. an aluminium centre dash panel with an 'X' pattern
engraving was fitted which looked similar to the early 3. 8
E-Type. It was discontinued after June 1958. The standard
engine. the same as fitted to the XK140. was the 3. 4 litre DOHC
Jaguar straight six rated at 180bhp at 5750rpm but most cars were
fitted with the SE engine that had a modified cylinder head with
larger exhaust valves rated at 210bhp at 5500rpm. These were
high performance. well appointed sports touring cars capable of
137mph and 0-60 in 7. 8 seconds and could accomplish long distances
with alacrity.

Once a barn-find in America. this XK150SE drophead coupé has
been bought back to these shores in need of near total restoration.
A previous project has begun the restoration process and therefore
a good rust free chassis and body was available as well as almost
every part needed to restore this XK to its former beauty. This
particular SE is a lefthand drive. manual with overdrive variant
and has a 3. 8 litre engine with red leather interior trim. An
extensive and pain-staking restoration thus took place with the
engine and gearbox completely overhauled. A bare-metal
re-spray was also completed with new chrome wire-wheels fitted and
a new leather interior in the original factory colour scheme. This
XK150 has the desirable manual with overdrive gearbox mated to a
3. 8 litre engine and stainless steel exhaust and drives extremely
well indeed. The car is supplied with full UK registration (280
UYP) as well as a full MoT test certificate valid until next
year.

The elegance and desirability of these beautifully-penned XK's
cannot be underestimated and early viewing is advised.
