1968 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT1300 Junior 'Scalino' for sale
Current customer rating: (333 votes ) based onAccording to the Alfa Romeo museum in Milan. this wonderfully
original matching numbers GT1300 Junior was manufactured on
1st March 1968 and sold to Alfa Romeo Switzerland. br/>Agno. with a body colour of Alfa red and black Skai
interior. The GT1300 Junior was fitted with the 1. 90cc twin
cam engine. The smaller engine was introduced in order to allow
buyers to choose an Alfa Romeo coupé while avoiding the higher
taxes on the models with larger engine capacity. especially in Alfa
Romeo's home Italian market. The GT1300 Junior remained in
production for over a decade.
This particular car is a perfect example of the first series. br/>having the 'Scalino' step-nose bonnet and features the beautiful
and very rare flat dashboard only fitted to the first series cars.
Having spent the first few years of its life in Switzerland. it
then spent the majority of its life in a French Alfa Romeo
collection where its authenticity was meticulously preserved by the
owner until being brought over to the UK by the vendor 18 months
ago. This Junior has never been restored and is in unbelievable
condition. The interior is completely original in black vinyl and
we are informed all details are still correct on this car. Some
years ago. the Alfa was repainted in its original colour but
otherwise the rest of this matching numbers car is as it left the
factory 45 years ago and the shutlines are. unsurprisingly. br/>perfect. Its pristine condition is reflected in the lean mileage of
64. 57 km. warranted by documentation in the extensive history file
which includes a logbook of use. older invoices and taxation
report. Sitting on the correct 15" wheels. RRM 58F is UK
registered and has also undergone a comprehensive service and is
offered with a 12 month MoT test certificate.
Original 'Scalino' cars in this rust-free condition are almost
impossible to find and driving this excellent Alfa Romeo shows
exactly how a period correct 60's sportscar should behave on the
road. It is a car with a huge fun factor and is an essential part
of any Italian classic car collection.
