1971 Jensen Interceptor Mk. II

Shown at the October 1966 Earls Court Motor Show alongside the
technically advanced four wheel drive FF. the Touring of
Milan designed Interceptor was quite a sensation and received much
praise. The fact Jensen had in the space of a year produced two
completely new models was also outstanding. particularly as the two
companies involved in the project were 680 miles apart. The
original design penned by Touring of Milan was taken
to Vignale of Turin who had the capability to produce the
car in far greater numbers than Touring. Fully trimmed and
painted bodyshells were delivered from Italy for assembly at West
Bromwich by October 1966. Both new cars had the 330bhp
Chrysler V8 engine coupled to a Torqueflite 3 speed automatic
gearbox and fashionable Rostyle wheels were fitted. The original
cars built by Vignale in Italy required much work both inside and
out to meet the quality standard required by Jensen and eventually
the contract was terminated by Jensen. who then produced complete
cars themselves at their West Bromwich factory. Power steering was
included as standard from September 1968 and in October 1969 the
Series II was announced featuring revised frontal styling and
vented disc brakes.

This superbly presented Series II Interceptor has had five
owners from new and was restored bodily and mechanically between
1993 and 2014 by the then owner. who was a garage proprietor. Since
then further restoration has been carried out including a respray
and work to the interior with the front seats receiving new hides. br/>the rear seats 'Connolised' and new carpets fitted. Many items of
rubber trim have also been recently renewed to give the finishing
touches to this most attractive car.

The Jensen starts easily and settles down to a quiet idle. br/>showing good oil pressure. We are informed that the car drives
extremely well with no known faults. The history file contains the
original workshop manual. owner's handbook and service booklet as
well as a photographic record of the restoration and a number of
Jensen Owners' Club journals. There is a current V5 registration
document and the Jensen will have a fresh MoT test certificate by
the time of the sale. A new set of tyres will also be fitted. The
Jensen Interceptor has become a very collectable car yet still
offers excellent value when compared with its peers and this
example. beautifully finished in red with magnolia hide interior. br/>is offered at a very reasonable estimate.
