One might introduce this Jaguar with a pre-amble regarding its
launch in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show and the effect it had at a
time when most every day motorcars struggled to reach 50mph. We
would of course add how the marque. with its exquisite lines. br/>150mph top speed and price. was a fraction of the cost of
equivalent exotic and performance motor cars. and impacted the
market with such a force. Even Enzo Ferrari called it 'the most
beautiful car ever made'; a fact that still defines the car 54
years on. And so. with that we are delighted to offer this matching
numbers Series I Jaguar E-Type that is presented in outstanding
condition.

Manufactured on 14th September 1966. LKE 244E was dispatched to
Jaguar Cars. New York on 3rd October 1966 where it was sold and
registered to its first keeper. Barbara Devonne. on 1st January
1967. From then. relatively little is known about the car
until it was repatriated into the UK in 2012. LKE 244E has
undergone a conversion to righthand drive and a ground up
restoration to the highest level by the most well respected
specialists within the trade. The coachwork and paint was taken
care of by 355 Automobile Restorations International who undertake
the repair and restoration of some of the world's finest and most
valuable motor cars. The standard of this work is evident on
inspection of the coachwork. which displays excellent panel gaps
and finish. another sign of the quality of the workmanship.
Graham Williams overhauled the engine. Graham. an engineer who was
a Lotus test driver alongside Dan Gurney and Jim Clark today races
a Hesketh Formula One car and operates a company rebuilding
engines. especially Jaguar. and runs master classes teaching how to
build the Jaguar XK power unit. Andrew Harding overhauled the rear
axle whilst Anthony Wainwright undertook the rest of the mechanical
work. The trim was taken care of by 'E-Type UK's' trim specialist
and the chrome work by SilvaBronz. The completed finish of this
fine E-Type Jaguar is outstanding in all respects and the
significant investment in the restoration is reflected in the
quality.

LKE 244E is presented with UK registration. a Jaguar Heritage
Production Trace Certificate and will arrive at the sale with a
fresh MoT test certificate. Presented in its original colours of
Pale Primrose with contrasting black hide interior and black mohair
hood. this exceptional example of a Series I E-Type must be one of
the best available today.
