1971 Jaguar V12 E-Type Series 3 Coupe

A stunning and highly original manual RHD V12 E-Type two-plus-two coupe. matching numbers with a new full body rebuild.

History of this car

According to Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate that accompanies the car. our E-Type was manufactured on 27. 8. 1971 and dispatched by the original distributor Henly's on 17. 9. 1971 to supplying dealer Charles Follet in London. W1 for the first owner. a Mrs K Gaze.

The colour scheme is as today. i. e light blue with a dark blue interior. and our car retains its original London registration mark JLO 110K.

Little is known about our E-Type in the intervening years until our car was purchased by the current body shop owner in 2010 as an original car in need of some TLC.

JLO 110K was completely stripped and rotisserie jig mounted with the aim of producing an authentically restored E-Type. To this end as much as possible of the original car was re-used. to make for a potential preservation class concours winning example.

Mileage to date is 79524. which is not guaranteed but probably correct given the condition of the car prior to restoration. Since completing the Jaguar. only breaking in miles have been completed. and the new owner will need to complete the running in process.

Bodywork

Perfection. We've not seen a better body on an E-Type. Our car has had a bare metal. windows out repaint and any corrosion was cut out and remetalled where required. The finish is outstanding. the sides laser straight and the panel fit factory fresh. No marks. no orange peel. no flaws – like a brand new car!

The chassis is as good as the top of the car. simply put it presents factory correct in all those areas some E-Type owners won't want you to see.

All cavities and seams have been Waxoil treated to preserve this exceptional car for the future.

A decision was made to not buy new reproduction. inferior plated replacement bright work but rather re-use the original chrome ware. which was in very good condition. There is light pickling to some items. which all adds to the authentic presentation this beautiful Jaguar makes. The glass is perfect.

Mechanicals

During the course of the restoration anything that needed changing was done. and the car today starts. drives and stops pretty much as it did in 1971.

New tyres and battery were fitted and the engine received a full service including sump removal and the curing of any leaks with gasket replacement. The radiator and gearbox appear newer but no history substantiates their replacement

Interior

Unlike many over restored examples. our car still has its original cabin.

The interior of our car in dark blue was in good condition and this has been carefully cleaned and reinstated. The leather seats have been fed and are supple and are so comfortable. The original carpets are in good condition.

All switch gear works. and the only wear to this fine cabin is the headlining which has some minor deterioration.

Seat belts front and rear and a period Pioneer radio/tape player are fitted.

Boot

This presents very sharply and the access panel once lifted reveals a spare with tie down and toolkit.

If you're looking for an authentically restored E-Type. one that has had its body expertly repaired to the highest standard yet is still original then this car is probably for you.

At the price suggested this example represents real value compared to the cost of a professional restoration on this model. so we recommend you be quick in inspecting this beautiful E-Type.
