Jensen FF Mk I – not Interceptor

I can't remember the last time I saw one of these for sale.   There are probably only around 120 of these remaining around the world. so a very rare car indeed!

The FF was the Jensen flagship of its day. similar to the Interceptor. but so much more!  FF that stands for ‘Ferguson Formula'. was a 4-wheel drive unit with anti-lock braking. although primitive by modern standards was way ahead of its time when it was offered for sale in the 1960s.   I won't go on as I expect anyone interested in this will know what it is.

This car comes with an MOT and Tax.

I've owned it for around 6 years and had every intention of restoring it. however I'm not getting any younger and a new business venture means I could do with the cash instead. so it's up for sale to someone who will bring her back to her former glory.   I carry out mechanical work as required. but it hardly ever gets used and I can't realistically see me getting round to it. so it's up for sale.   It has 5 brand new tyres. stainless exhaust. edelbrock carburettor (the original is still with the car). a newish battery and all the usual Jensen refinements of the day.   It comes with MOT. and although almost expired I have no doubt it will get another more or less as it is. and if I get a sensible price for it I may consider doing it for the new buyer.   Tax also comes with the car and that is of course free as a historic vehicle.   Also included are two folders full of various receipts totalling thousands of pounds for work carried out. and some MOTs going back to the early days.   Mileage is 78500ish and appears to be genuine. all the old MOTs present support that figure. but I can't be absolutely sure.

From what I can see the structure of the car is basically sound. and the chassis tubes that are a major problem on these cars appear ok and hold vacuum as they should.   The floors are mostly original apart from one small repair that I carried out some years ago.   Most outer panels however will require repairs including the bonnet.   The rostyles will also require rechroming but I have a set of MkIII alloys in reasonable condition that are available if the new owner wants them.   The engine runs well to about 70/80 mph but there is mechanical noise above that speed – I'm not sure what but it will need to be investigated. but I haven't bothered as I don't normally drive above those speeds. There is also a slight exhaust blow at the manifold.   Transmission runs well (I have invoices for a transmission rebuild some time ago) and changes are nice and smooth.   Brakes work well as I spent a lot of time replacing pipes and bleeding the system properly as these can be problematic to bleed.   I still have two new flexi-hoses for the front but I haven't replaced them as I only bought them before I did the work in anticipation of what I may need.   Interior is in good condition with the normal creasing found in old leather – there are no tears or splits.   Chrome is excellent all round (apart from the rostyles that I mentioned above).

The car is garaged and rarely sees rain but it is well over 40 years old and I expect any serious buyer to come and view the car before bidding.   Let me make this clear: if you bid without seeing the car it's down to you.   I can't describe it in any more detail here without writing a book and there are many faults that I haven't got the space to mention including some that you may consider serious and others I have completely forgotten about.   I will not entertain any haggling when you collect and any bids will be accepted on the basis that you have seen and approved the car regardless of whether you have actually done so or not.   Email me to arrange viewing and for anything you want to know.

Finally. I've listed it with no reserve but I'll be keeping an eye on it and won't let it go for peanuts. so if that is the case I may remove it before the auction ends.   I expect payment in cash and collection within seven days after auction end unless otherwise agreed beforehand.
