This MGB Roadster was restored in the mid 80's which was a full nut and bolt restoration. There is a plate under the bonnet to prove this.  The restoration was clearly done to a good standard as it has stood the test of time and whilst the car is not concourse. it is still a remarkably good looking example. On a recent run to Henley. we stopped for an ice cream and we lost count of the people that stopped and looked at it!

The car has an extensive folder of bills and MOT's going back to 1999 when the mileage was 13567 (from restoration). The last MOT was in Dec 2012 when the mileage was 27058 and the MOT certificates between prove the mileage to be genuine. The car is completely solid and there is no evidence of any rust issues. The engine is a reconditioned 1970 unit (not unleaded) and the gearbox is 3 synchro. Oil pressure is excellent and the engine pulls well through the gears. Gearchange is what you would expect with no issues with synchro and overdrive functioning. Amongst other things. the car has had a recent new carpet set. hood. alternator. coil. oil cooler. grille. kick plates and is fitted with a stainless fuel tank. It was also tuned and had all the bushes on the rear axle replaced in December.

My wife and I are both petrol heads and we bought this as a 3rd car in January for classic shows this summer. but unfortunately my wifes health has deteriorated badly in the last few months (rheumatoid arthritis) and this has altered our plans somewhat. so it seems sensible to resell.

As I bought the car from a distance. prior to purchase. I had a dealer (Hewitts Classic Car Specialists) value the car and I have a certificate from them for £8k. The car is insured on an agreed value basis at £10k

In the interests of myself and anyone considering purchasing the car. my personal view is that the car would benefit from some new front brake pads as the current ones squeal when hot (may just need some copper slip). A useful addition would be a servo. which I intended to add if I had kept the car.

The car is advertised elsewhere. so I reserve the right to remove from sale at any point. The car will be sold as seen and I would encourage a viewing if possible.

Payment should be by direct transfer to my bank account or by cash on collection. but please don't be offended if we take this to the bank to be checked.

No overseas buyers please.
