This TR4a is really quite a find. What we have here is a totally original. right-hand drive UK supplied TR4a that has never been restored. has only had four keepers since new (one of which had it for 32 years) and is extremely solid. There can't be many left like this.

First registered on 15th February 1966. this TR4a was ordered in Triumph Racing Green with black trim. steel wheels with hubcaps and no overdrive. It retains that specification today.

The first keeper had the Triumph until 1977. the second. a John Robert Jaques. kept it until 1979 when it was acquired by a Keith Raymond Gunn who owned the car for 32 years. selling it to its last keeper in 2011 who had it professionally recommissioned the car after a long period of dry storage. This work included a new dynamo. all new brakes including calipers. hoses. wheel cylinders and fitting a servo. Along with a new stainless steel exhaust system. two new tyres. a driver's side floorpan and one new sill. which have been nicely fitted.

Having inspected the car. it would appear that no other repair work has ever been carried out to the body or chassis. Quite amazing on a TR4 that has lived in the UK all its life.

The chassis is completely solid and has never been welded. The body is totally solid including outer panels and has only been painted once in its life. Under the bonnet is all original paint. The bumpers are totally straight and rot free and all body trim is present and correct.

Similarly the interior is all correct with the original dashboard. steering wheel and seats.

A full service and MoT has just been carried out and the car drives well with a sweet (original) engine and slick gearbox.

It's something of a conundrum as to what to do with this survivor. Naturally the paintwork and interior are tired and tatty. and a new hood would not go amiss. but it has a lovely patina so you could simply use it as is. Alternatively it would make an extremely easy and rewarding restoration project that would result in an extremely desirable car. The choice is yours.
